UNTRAINED TREE

UNTRAINED TREE

Alas, my tree’s untrained,

Not that it is disdained…

But underneath

A railroad wreath,

Is not as yet obtained.

I had a little round table,

But was not able…

To construct

Track that hooked,

In a complete circle around the table.

The pressed wood of the table was hard,

My track nails didn’t go far…

They wouldn’t go in

As holding pins,

While gluing down the railroad yard.

So I glued on extruded foam,

I can paint it white when we’re home…

Our timing is clear,

I’ll wait ’til next year

To hear the whistle of a steam train moan.
