LATE BLOOMERS

LATE BLOOMERS

Been considering love

And how I used to think…

Not knowing how it was

It turned the loved to pink.

I gave a friendship ring

Before I knew just why

She grasped me in a hug

And then began to cry.

For me it was a play,

A special place to kiss…

Until the awful day

She’d have no more of this!

Her next one–my best friend—

Tried to soothe me with stories,

It appears she didn’t let him

Beyond first base and its glories.

Some of us were pretty blind,

Late bloomers so we be…

Understanding the drive

Of loving romantically.
