NOT LIKE THE MOVIES

NOT LIKE THE MOVIES?

Been reading The Old Testament this weekend,

Comparing Moses’ time with Hollywood’s take…

How is it every play or movie gets away

With altering events for drama’s sake?

A TV preacher referenced Charlton Heston

And THE TEN COMMANDMENTS’ view of Moses’ plight…

While individual facts may be useful,

The order changes just like day and night.

The other versions, like that with Ben Kingsley,

Seem closer to the truth but still err…

To wit:  to dramatize and dazzle viewer’s eyes,

They stretch out situations not all there.

It seems that many folks need a reason

To stretch out stories labelled different ways…

Instead of using what is there and treating it with special care,

They choose dilution of the ancient ways.
