WHAT’S GOING ON?
(in his dreams)
He kept waking up all night
Struggling each time to breathe…
Dreaming that each breath was a fight
Among providers’ schemes.
–
His breaths were not his own,
But provided by one of two…
Entities that
Developed a spat,
And in the middle was “you know who!”
–
He knew he needed the sleep
So kept going back to bed….
Another layer
Warming each player,
Until the inner silence was deep.

I wondered if the good versus evil forces were fighting to take your sleep away? Is “you know who” the devil? I can believe that it is hard to get sleep if your conscience or a problem is bothering you, too! This was a good open ended poem and I liked it very much. It got me thinking!

tHANK YOU KINDLY for saying you liked it—AND WHY!!! Maybe the devil WAS one of the two forces fighting for control of the speaker’s breath. But “you know know who” is the person speaking, whose breath the two opposing forces are trying to take control of. 🙂
