Forestry Friday … The Critical Period

BE CAREFUL…BIG CHAIN SAWS…WHERE YOU CUT!!!

THE FORESTER ARTIST

THE WARY PIGEON

THE WARY PIGEON

Did you hear of the foolish pigeon

Who wanted to warm up a smidgen…

In the chiller room

With machinery boom,

Whose prospects turned so Stygian?

Machinery was loud,

The reason there’s never a crowd…

The pigeon paced the room floor

Not able to take anymore…

Soon as it could it flew,

Got warier too,

For now it knew what was in store!

Got nothing cooking in the fryer.

Materials on the back burner

Should be there for a quick learner…

But a sudden lack

Of ideas hacked

Leaves a poet with no more page turners!

Between the space in the seats, she watches him leaning to unlace his shoes, to open the airplane blanket, to gaze at the magazines, to study the emergency exit card, to move for no good reason. Finally, he spills his beer on his tray. She’s grateful that her coffee will not suffer the same fate. She takes a slow sip, as if it is also important not to finish the coffee quickly…
