WORSHIP THE UNSEEN GOD

IS YOUR FAITH IDOLIC….OR TRUE?

WORSHIP THE UNSEEN GOD

by Jonathan Caswell

Consider the normal icon

With image of a saint upon…

      One says they’re reminders

      Another is inclined, er,

To pray to the image thereon.

We Protestants have our crosses,

Pet doctrines and liturgical glosses…

      And “Shepherd Jesus” stained glass,

      Illustrations that pass

For valued images—potential drosses.

And many do “worship” the Bible,

That version we find most vital…

      Some pastors (deranged?)

      Claim their Bible hasn’t changed

In a thousand years—pure libel!

Many people’s faith seem based on such statements,

Any evidence contrary is viewed as abatements

      Disturbing folks’ faith,

      ‘Though it were spiritual rape

To suggest the Bible was not  a word-for-word “relatement”.

Don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble,

Now I KNOW I am in trouble…

      Translation does err

      No matter the care,

Picking word scraps from the rubble.
