ENTER THE OAR FISH

Are ancient sea monsters abroad,

For scientists to be awed…

Like a coelacanth

Oar fish (not in Banff*),

Exist as creatures of God.

Think of all the things men said aren’t true,

That have fallen by the wayside too…

Wonders in the sea

Fill us with glee,

Are there salt water plesiosaurs** swimming through?

notes:  *Banff, in Alberta, Canada…simply used to rhyme with coelacanth, an ancient fish found in fossils and recovered in fishing nets off the coast of South Africa in 1938.  Two species of this “extinct” fish are living.

**Plesiosaur is the ancient sea animal found in the fossil record that many people think are represented in modern times by the Loch Ness monster (Nessie) and the Lake Champlain monster (Champ) and certain other examples elsewhere.
