The Wait

IT TAKES TIME FOR ANSWERS TO GET FROM GOD’S THRONE TO US, EVEN FOR DANIEL.

My Love Forever & Always

Many things have been circling in my mind lately about the promises of God. One thing in particular that I keep coming back to is the wait; the wait to see God’s promises fulfilled. Granted, in comparison to eternity, the wait isn’t that long. Peter reminds us that to the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. I ask the Holy Spirit every day to strengthen me with the grace to patiently wait in expectation for the promises He has placed in my heart and confirmed in His Word. On my mind, though, are the mighty men and women of faith that we read about in the Bible. God promised Abraham that his offspring would be as numerous as the stars; yet, Sarah was barren. Abraham waited nearly 25 years for God’s promise to be fulfilled in his life with the…

FAITH TAKES INTO ACCOUNT GOD’S TIMING!

Preaching The Bible- Promises

GOD’S PROMISES TO ABRAM—ALL WERE KEPT!

theologyarchaeology

Genesis 15 and part of 16 give us several promises from God, most to Abram and one to Hagar. I am going to quote them first before saying anything further:

1. Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; [a]Your reward shall be very great.” (ch. 15)

2. 13 God said to Abram, “Know for certain that your [q]descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, [r]where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.14 But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with [s]many possessions. (ch. 15)

3.18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your [t]descendants I have given this land,
From the river of Egypt as far as the great…

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — With the risk of localized flooding from the overflowing Trinity River, the City of Dallas has closed sections of more than 20 roads in area west of Stemmons Freeway (I-35 E), north of Northwest Highway and east of Luna Road and south of Royal Lane.

This area will likely be blocked off to traffic through Monday morning’s commute, according to city officials.

The City of Dallas sent reverse 911 messages Sunday afternoon to all the businesses in the impacted area Sunday warning them of the potential flooding risk.

“It’s crazy on a day like this sunny that it would be this scary,” said Christine Umanzor, the director of the Wag Time dog rescue shelter.

Within a couple hours of the warning, volunteers had evacuated all 80 dogs from the shelter.

Late Sunday evening, emergency officials said it appears the flood waters would not…

Azalea Magic

I CAN SMELL THEM ON THE BREEZE AT NIGHT, DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THEM AND THE LARGE LUMPS OF LILACS!

Friendly Fairy Tales

Pink Azalea Blooms

Fallen forsythia sunshine lines my path.
I linger in a bower circled by giant phlox.
Lady Spring casts her spell,
A come-hither invitation to embrace
The wind, scented with lilacs and irises.
Cottonwood fluff tangles in my hair.
Inchworms pulse on invisible silk.
Grass stalks tickle my ankles.
Dandelions smile at bluejays.
Swallows skim empty soccer fields.
Dogs woof and chase squirrels.
Maple leaves dapple the forest path,
Insects munch and rabbits lunch,
But azaleas steal the show.

BACK FROM AN ABYSS

BACK FROM AN ABYSS

Three more days and I’m free,

From chajns that had hold of me…

God wiped out claims

On several games

I’ll bend my knee to Him, only!

The abyss in question: Ebay…

With regret for the people betrayed…

Too easy to fall

And spend it all,

My God loves me though He’s dismayed.

For the sake of a good life tasted,

So much money’s been wasted…

Big debts unpaid

The addict laid

Himself and family debt-pasted.
