Hurt! To be hurt.
Withdraw, protect the heart.
To build a wall,
keep the heart from breaking.

Hurt! To hurt others.
Emotional anger.
Wanting to inflict pain.
the red haze of revenge.

Somehow or other we get hurt.
We carry the scars through life.
A hurt may heal, trust cautious.
Forgiveness tough, lessons learned.

No one comes out unscathed.
We wear invisible badges.
No one sees our hurt.
Our masks in place, hurt disguised.

A slander, a slur, to scorn.
Can slice through the heart.
Take heed, don’t impart such.
For it hurts to receive such.
