The joys of being ginger

Q.What’s the difference between a ginger and a vampire?
A: One is a pale creature that avoids the sun. The other is a vampire.

I decided to write a blog post on being ginger as I inevitably got sun burnt during this Summer’s heat wave. I’ve lost count of how many times I heard “Don’t worry, you’ll tan soon enough.” I felt like replying “No, No I won’t be tanned soon! You know why!? Because I’m ginger!” Any fellow ginger people reading this will realise, we do not tan- We burn, our skin peels…and oh shocker! We’re pale again. It’s one of the many joys of being ginger (Not).

You’d think that being 1-2% of the entire world’s population, according to The Independent, would mean that we would embrace our unique ginger locks. Instead, many of us hide our ginger genes by dying our hair and wearing concealer to…
