BACK FROM MEMORIAL DAY

We’re back from Memorial Day,

Many had long weekends to play…

Honoring their dead

With a picnic instead,

Or perhaps just getting away!

We mourn the jacked-up gas prices,

Are these the result of I.S.I.S….(?)

Had to save

Gasoline for Tuesday,

Come enjoy some natural ices.

Planting soon begins,

For once, warm weather wins…

Tomato plants in a window

Are ready to go,

Let them soak up those balmy winds!

Big news!! Spring has sprung in Wisconsin!

Now there is a good chance that before this month is all said and done that it will still snow again. However, it hit in the 60s this week which means I’m transitioning my wardrobe to a new season. Here are my pointers for my style lovers.

SpringLook1Tip 1

I have found that lightweight sweaters have become the most used item of clothing in my closet (right behind a v-neck tee).  It’s the easiest clothing item to transition between seasons, but I also find myself wearing them all year round.  They are perfect for chilly summer nights and also perfect on a chilly plane ride!  I have four lightweight sweaters just like this one, but in different colors.

MISSING TRAIN VIDEOS UNPRODUCED

My favorite RS-1,

From ALCO  has rarely been done…

Genesee and Wyoming

No one was filming,

Was a salt-hauling railroad no fun?

Claremont Concord as well,

No films at the cement dump I can tell…

Still pictures, yes,

Available at best,

Where few industry railroad fans dwell.

CLOSER UP

If he only knew what to say,

In her boudoir he was okay…

The scent of the room

And her perfume,

Whirled him around as they may.

Fully clothed was she,

Looking at him intently…

Is he trustworthy

Or just nervy,

If she wanted to give…would she?

THIS “MISS RED” HAS (IS) A WINNER!

You’re going to want to pencil down these details…

There’s one thing I gladly take from 1950’s fashion and that’s the pencil skirt. I own about seven of them. They’re classic, easy to style, and you can wear them all throughout the year (extra points!). In summer you can fashion them with sandals and a tank and in winter just throw on some tights and booties.

But my favorite way to style them is with a simple tee. I love dressing down a fancier piece of clothing with a casual piece. I do it often.

Why?

  1. It’s comfortable.
  2. It’s unexpected.
  3. My closet is full of every tee ever made…

Other ways I style a pencil skirt:

  1. With a crisp button down shirt. Think office chic.
  2. With a loose button down (think chambray) for a little more relaxation and contrast.
  3. Belting it. I often add a skinny belt for a little…
