Skaneateles View,

To Mott’s End in review…

The critter survived

with other lives

But the railroad’s running was through!

Build to ferry tourists

To lake steamers when business flourished…

Slowed railroad wheels,

Lake steamers were not encouraged!

In the end, just one shipper stayed,

Which bought the railroad as laid…

Until it too

Saw business fall through,

In the end, there was no help or aid!

–Jonathan Caswell

The Skaneateles Railroad was a New York state short line, which lasted into the early 1970’s, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.  The rail line was abandoned and track removed.  —J.E.C..
