Our second year of divinity school a Noreastern met with a tropical storm and dropped 42 inches of snow over an evening.
The National Guard was called in- doctors and nurses were wearing disposable underwear because there was no hope of leaving the hospital- churches opened their doors to the homeless- roads closed- streets quieted.
Something magical- maybe you might even call it miraculous- happened neighbors who had been busy about their lives look up and around- noticing their neighbor- the streets were full but not with the general traffic of people rushing here or there- but cross country skiers- and strollers taking in this winter wonderland.
