Derailment right in front,

Track was rough but don’t…

Despair for me

Because naturally,

I replaced the components there!

Fitting power leads I broke,

That piece of curved track (no joke)…

A mill file too large

Ripped it too hard,

In a bucket my head should soak!

Replaced one “left-hand” whose fused

Plastic switch points bar was abused…

Soldering nearly blind

Caused damage of this kind,

To move to the other track it refused!

Eventually spliced in with nerve,

A re-railer formed as a curve…

The old power feeds

Didn’t fill my needs,

Only one terminal rail joiner served!*

The current return lead resoldered,

Took two tries but I bothered…

Some turnout change

I could arrange,

Track changed in ways that mattered!

–Jonathan Caswell

Terminal rail joiner–a metal piece joining two rail ends with a n electrical lead wire attached to help power track.

Turnout–a track device that switches the train from one track to an alternate route.

Return lead–the wire that returns current in a Direct Current system  (like the two rails of model trains)

Re-railer–used to automatically–if installed–put train wheels back on the track in one or more passes.

“Switch points bar”—otherwise known as a throw bar–to move rail points to change the train route.

Derailment–one or more wheels of a train come off the track

mill file- unususally big file to use on delicate model train rails!

About Jonathan Caswell

Poet, author, servant of God the Heavenly father and the Lord Jesus Christ...working out his salvation with fear and trembling. - Not trusting in his own deeds, but depending totally upon the finished sacrificial work of Jesus Christ to be, by God's reckoning, a new creature, clothed in Christ's righteousness...which mortal humankind can never attain by their own weak efforts, apart from faith in Christ's work on our behalf. - College-educated, yet wise enough to see that what a man does will not be his ultimate identity nor affect how God sees him or her. - Called by God to do a very difficult thing...apart from God's grace, mercy and love the sinner (which we all--by nature--are) but hate the sin, which is only paid through Christ, God's Son, - My own God-given gift is that of being a Poet..showing that in all parts of life...God has a loving part in hard as that is to always understand or perceive...given life's realities! Come join me on my journey of discovery?.
