How would I like to get back in time?
If I’m honest, I know I would give it all back
just for a chance to hold your hands in mine,
and clean your tears on the darker days,
spook out those demons that carved the scars you carried now…
For you, the girl that I knew, you used to be mine.
And I would tell you ‘do not fear, you are going to be brave, you’re going to be fine. You’ll do so much stronger than you ever imagined to be possible’.
And yes, I’m not going to lie to you, most days you won’t recognise yourself;
Yes, sometimes you will feel that you are not anything like you used to be,
but you will still remember that girl, and her dreams, and you kept the sparkle of your childhood in your heart…
