June 2 Walking by Faith

Scripture Reading: Psalm 27:11–14

Key Verse: Psalm 27:14

Wait on the Lord;

Be of good courage,

And He shall strengthen your heart;

Wait, I say, on the Lord!

In our excitement to see God work in our lives, we oftentimes forget that He knows the big picture, and He also knows what is best for us. Our zeal, apart from His divine knowledge, can send us racing into the unknown, when it’s best for us to wait upon Him for guidance.

However, learning to walk by faith teaches us to stand firm while awaiting God’s direction. Our mentality that places a disproportionate amount of emphasis on works can incite us to go forward. We forget that some of our greatest personal growth as believers, and the preparation necessary for God’s next step in our lives, takes place in the stillness of our hearts.
