Insecure Poets

Insecure about writing poetry

Twisting emotions and thoughts to rhyme

Self-conscious when we are being so honest

For we are written into every line

Writing requires great vulnerability

Opening our chests is no small feat

Poets’ ribs protect no hearts

For on their sleeves is where they beat
