Survey Shows How Evangelical Relationships With Muslims Can Further Understanding

YES!!!!

Earlier this week, a Baptist church in Michigan canceled an event titled, “9/11 Forgotten? Is Michigan Surrendering to Islam?” due to pushback from fellow Christians and politicians.

The pastor of Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church identifies as an Islamophobe and organized the gathering because he sees Islam as a growing threat in the US, The Washington Post reported.

While some fellow white evangelicals share his suspicions, research has shown that those who know Muslims in their communities tend to hold more positive views and are more likely to see commonalities between their two faiths.

“The personal relationships with Muslims, that’s a game changer,” Todd Green, Luther College professor and former Islamophobia adviser to the US State Department, told ThePost. “It tends to make you less Islamophobic.”

Yet surveys from various sources have noted the friendship gap between evangelicals and their Muslim neighbors. More than a third (35%)…

About Jonathan Caswell

Poet, author, servant of God the Heavenly father and the Lord Jesus Christ...working out his salvation with fear and trembling. - Not trusting in his own deeds, but depending totally upon the finished sacrificial work of Jesus Christ to be, by God's reckoning, a new creature, clothed in Christ's righteousness...which mortal humankind can never attain by their own weak efforts, apart from faith in Christ's work on our behalf. - College-educated, yet wise enough to see that what a man does will not be his ultimate identity nor affect how God sees him or her. - Called by God to do a very difficult thing...apart from God's grace, mercy and strength...to love the sinner (which we all--by nature--are) but hate the sin, which is only paid through Christ, God's Son, - My own God-given gift is that of being a Poet..showing that in all parts of life...God has a loving part in it...as hard as that is to always understand or perceive...given life's realities! Come join me on my journey of discovery?.

Part of the reason why any Christians hold any positive views of Islam is a lack of knowledge where history is concerned, as well as a lack of understanding Islamic doctrine and teachings. The Qur’an is a virulently vicious book cleverly disguised as a religious book, Muhammad was a false prophet, and Allah is Satan. The problem with using the term “phobia” is that it implies an irrational fear. A careful read of the history of the interaction between Islam and the rest of the world shows that any fear one experiences would be anything but irrational.

As you have said, many Muslims in America are good people, after American opportunity. A majority of Muslim and Christian populations are not necessarily well educated on their religions’ creeds or history. Rick Warren, for one, apparently wishes to ignore all that BUT there have been times when Muslims, Christians and Jews have lived in a neighborhood peacefully?

I admit to being largely ignorant to the works of Mr. Rick Warren, so I can’t comment on his beliefs. I arrived at my own beliefs regarding Islam after a careful study of the sources themselves. I own multiple copies of the Qur’an, along with several volumes of Hadith, and two or three different extant books detailing Mohammad’s life and times. What I’ve found in those books is beyond frightening and why I have serious issues with Islam.

My concern isn’t necessarily with how they interpret their literature, but rather with 1) how Muhammad interpreted it, because his interpretation informs their execution of it, and 2) the rather disturbing implications I find in biblical prophecy as relates to Islam and the Middle East. There are two former Muslims whose works I highly recommend. The first is a man named Walid Shoebat. He is a former PLO terrorist who was born in Bethlehem (yes, that Bethelehem). The other is a Lebanese man named Kamal Saleem. He was also a PLO terrorist. Both men have since converted to Christianity, become American citizens, and spent their new lives desperately trying to warn anyone who will listen about the true intentions of Islam in the West. Kamal Saleem wrote a book entitled, “The Blood of Lambs”. I strongly recommend reading it.

Allow me to clarify, most Muslims are decent people, but watch what happens should they comprise more than 25% or our population. Better yet, look no further than England, France, and Germany for what happens when they become a significant portion of the population.

Agreed. Certain parts of the Midwest…so I’ve heard…where Muslims attain a workable majority, Sharia Law is allegedly voted in and then enforced. some of these reports show up on Word Press.

Dearborn, Michigan comes to mind. A few years back, Deerborn PD arrested a group of Christians preaching near an Arab heritage festival, including at least two former Muslims. They were later released, but had to fight tooth and nail to get their equipment back.

New York City is showing early signs. They now have areas where Shariah police are beginning to patrol, complete with squad cars made to resemble NYPD cars. Before long, there will be no-go zones like the ones in London and Paris.

It is a strange dichotomy, though. When they’re a tiny sliver of a minority, you couldn’t ask for better neighbors. They’re quite, respectful, law-abiding, even friendly. When they hit about the 10% mark, they begin to get restive. Suddenly, they’re demanding that changes be made to suit their sensibilities. At the 25% mark, they begin to establish things like no-go zones, Shariah courts and police, community patrols, etc. Once they hit the 35%-40%, the terrorist attacks begin. At 50%, they take over, and the heads literally roll after that.

Rough estimates based upon observations, as well as data presented by researchers who’ve gone into historical data. One such source I use is Dr. Bill Warner, who heads up an organization that deals with political Islam. He has a channel on YouTube called Political Islam. Look for a video entitled “Why we are afraid, a 1400 year secret”. Acts17 Apologetics is another good source, as they cover some of the more detailed aspects of Jihad in the West.

Much of that has to do with the fact that the Gospel is offensive to the flesh, and that is where the majority of humans live. If anyone tells them that there is a way that doesn’t involve acceptance of the Message of the Gospel, they will run after it like a starving man after a feast. However, if you tell them that Jesus is the only way to Salvation, and that Salvation will result in them rising above and becoming disdainful of the flesh, they will run away from it as if being chased by a pack of rottweilers.
