DEPEND ON ANOTHER–THEY WILL FAIL. DEPEND ON GOD AND LIVE BEYOND THE VEIL!
“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God” (Isaiah 40:1).
We are comforted by the words and actions of good friends. We know the truth of the saying, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Human comfort helps us so much – but it can only take us so far. We need more than human comfort. We need to hear the Word of the Lord. We need to know that we’re need to know that we’re not on our own. We need to know that the Lord is with us. We need to know that he speaks to us his word of comfort.
In Psalm 42:7, we read these words, “Deep calls to deep.”
From the depths of our suffering, we look for understanding of what’s happening to us – “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?” (Psalm 42:5,11).
