God’s Love And Life-Changing Crises –

How do we tell a mother who just lost her child that God loves her and knows what he’s doing?

What about the man who was just laid off from his job and can no longer make the house payments or support his wife and children?

We know God doesn’t change, and he loves us. He hasn’t suddenly stopped. And if we are faithful followers, his plan is moving steadily in our lives.

But, telling others that “This is God’s plan for you” during heartbreaking tragedy is like saying to a giraffe with a broken neck, “keep your head held high. Life isn’t all that bad!” It could sound insensitive and likely anger the giraffe.

The way we Christians can comfort someone during life-changing crises is not to preach to them, but show them God’s love. Allow…
