For most of my adult life, I’ve been perplexed or even confused by a single line in the Lord’s Prayer *  found in either Matthew 6:9-13 or in Luke 11:2-4. To put this thought in context, below is Matthew’s version quoting the words of Christ our Messiah.

“This then is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ “ Matthew 6:9-13 NIV **

What did the Lord mean when He said, “on earth as it is in heaven” ?

Mr Caswell, You are such an encourage ment to me! Today, I’m off work because downtown Minneapolis is full of protests. We are, likely, in for another wave of chaos.
Please pray for your brothers and sisters like me who live in the city. That we aren’t deflected by fear or riot. That we remain confident that Jesus put us in the mix to be the calm Kingdom within the storm.
My instinct as a dad is to move away asap. Yet, this morning I just confessed to the Lord my struggles: do I disrupt my daughter’s life during her Senior year of high school? Do I have my elderly mom move in w/ us to be safe? What’s a dad to do when the 1/3 of the cops have fled, and the criminals are emboldened?
Please pray for us to bravely stay, or boldly chase the Wild Goose (Gaelic for the Holy Spirit)!
Thanks again for being a friend! G-d’s best to you today!

Please do Jonathan! I KNOW the best place to be is where the Lord puts me/us. (I know that doesn’t HAVE to mean safety, comfort, normalcy, or security.) I also know, living through coup d’etat 30 years ago when the Soviet Union split up, what it’s like to go from reading the morning paper to “Where are your paper’s!?”, in the space of 24hrs.
There are millions of us with disrupted lives. I just want to come out the other side a better human, more confident in G-d, and my neighbor than before!
