Jesus and women: He defines them by their love of God and faith in Christ

We read how God defines women in the Bible. Eight women (Gospel of Luke) are being defined, each according to her faith in God and love of God. 

Mary, a favored woman: She believed in the Good News from God. She obeyed. She is favored because the Lord is with her and she believes His words. And she loves God. 

Luke 1:28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”

Luke 2:23 The law of the Lord says, “If a woman’s first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord.”

A sinful woman forgiven: She had saving faith (in action). Her sins were forgiven. Others looked at her external, a sinful immoral woman. But Jesus saw something deep, her love for Him. Look at her, He said. What did Jesus see? He saw her kneeling before Him, weeping…
