Men, I set aside my poems and jokes and speak to you now as I also speak to myself.
As I look around at this world I see that it is in dire need of godly men. We are called to be leaders in our families and in our world. We are to lead by example and truth, being a light to this dark world. But we have been found lacking. We have stood silently by as the world around us crumbles. We make all kinds of excuses, “well, it’s really not that bad,” “It’s not my place to say anything,” the list goes on and on. It is a fact we have grown comfortable in our sin. We have quietly let Satan take control of our families and our lives.
You may ask “what can I do? I’m just one man.” True, you are just one man but as a Christian you have the power of God to change lives and bring Him glory. Oh, but where do I start? Every journey has a beginning, start by drawing close to God. Open your bible, feast on His word, and train your heart to seek His will and guidance. Lead your family to church, bible study and in prayer fined the answers to the questions they ask. We have been called to lead and it’s time that we start leading.Far too long we have not been the leader that God calls us to be, we have lost our direction and we wander as those who do not know Christ. It is time we took an honest look at ourselves. Not checking ourselves against other men but look at ourselves by the word of God.(James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.)As Christian men we need to constantly be in God’s word and in prayer that we may become the leader God has called us to be.
Our greatest testimony is how we live our lives. Our families will see us living out God’s truth and values and seek to do the same. As godly men living out God’s word the world around us see. They may think we are crazy or naïve but they notice we are not like everyone else. We may think we are not able to be a leader and in fact we are not. But in Christ all things are possible; it is the power of God working through us. And that is what the world will see. Just one man you say? So was Christ, who humbled Himself and became a man among us.(Ephesians 4:12-15 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.)It is God that equips us for the task He has set before us. The task of leading our families and the lost to Christ and bring glory to God in all we do.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.To us who have received this great gift of the Holy Spirit we also have the greatest of responsibilities. Not just to ourselves but to our families and to this lost world. (Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.)Men and I count myself as well, if we follow God’s decrees towards our wives and families we will see the change in all aspects of our life. All good things come from our heavenly Father. And we should treasure them as the true blessing they are.We are chosen by God to be leaders. Whether we are good leaders or not depends on what we base our values on. Who we follow, God word or the ways of the world? The choice is life or death.
