Three Ballerinas

There are three lilac ballerinas
Dancing dainty in an old canvas.
They swirl with a melody that a painter sings
and hop on figment imagination of his broken dreams.

It was in the painter’s stories
that the ballet shoes were worn.
It was in his crumpled notes
that the brushes made strokes.

Was it his 10-year-old oath,
to paint or produce music of his own.
Was it his 10-year-old oath,
to leap amongst the thorns.

These stories became real.
In his paintings, he does reel.
In his arts, he combines it to heal

to soothe himself that he was…

a painter,

a dancer,

a writer.

So he writes, so it shall exist.
