Donald Byrd

Donaldson Toussaint L’Ouverture Byrd II nacque il 9 dicembre 1932 e fu un trombettista e cantante statunitense di jazz e rhythm & blues.
Sideman per molti altri musicisti jazz della sua generazione, Byrd era conosciuto come uno dei rari musicisti jazz bebop che esplorò con successo il funk e il soul pur rimanendo un artista jazz.
Come bandleader, Byrd ha avuto un’influenza sugli inizi della carriera di Herbie Hancock.
Ci lascia per sempre il 4 febbraio 2013.
