IS IT ENOUGH FOR NOW?

Returning up from the dregs

Of wonder between the legs…

Righteously

The Spirit sees

This one taken down a peg.

From bingeing not on food

But absorption of .the lewd…

Your Word within

Like soap to  the skin,

A cleansing interlude!

–Jonathan Caswell

T.G.I.F.:NOT JUST A SAYING

T.G.I.F.,

Celebrations for what is left…

Two days of fun

Lest your the weekend run,

Work obligations hold less heft!

What does the one of God say.

It’s not time to walk away…

From getting close

To God that we chose,

We feed on Him every day!

Sundays, our worship in view,

Devotion to Him we renew…

The rest of the week

His word we seek,

Modeling it’s importance for you.

PRAISE YOUR LORD

Call  on God in your trouble,

Even from a pile of rubble…

Give all praise

To God all your days,

Seeing farther in the future than Hubble*!

—Jonathan Caswell

Poem based on Psalm 91: 14-15;  and Psalm 50:15

*Hubble space craft orbiting the Earth…and its huge  telescope!

TIME TO END IT AGAIN

Failure is never a good thing,

To gloat over as it’s your swing…

Many say

Walk away,

Try again next inning.

Praise God that each day is new,*

Can try again what you blew…

Mercies extended

For what’s not yet ended,

Brings new-born hope into view!

–Jonathan Caswell

*Lamentations  3: 22-23

WHAT SORROW…CLEARING OF YOURSELVES!

(Read 2nd Corinthians 7: 11)

An Adult Subject Poem

A Christian feels sad,

Realizing more than a tad…

He’d gone overboard

Behaving untoward,

Mourning ’cause he’d been had!

In his personal sin

He’d let the enemy sneak in…

In certain ways

Our minds play,

Corrupting the soul within.

Certain things lure fantasy,

Enticing our own fancy…

Pictures and prose

Hooks one’s nose,

And mind in a trance, tragically!

Avoiding it all is best,

But if  Evil builds a nest…

The penalty for sin

Christ did in,

Repent now and enter His rest!

BAD NEWS

In the midst of coffee and such,

Phil’s wife came in to touch…

Us with news

He’s begun to lose,

All at once–too much!

Too much for Loretta to do,

As moving day looms in view…

Phil’s therapy

Immediately,

But the Lord will help her through!

–Jonathan Caswell

UNPREPARED (HORRORS?)

Weekend of July 4th,

Nothing could be worse…

American flag shirts he

Has are all dirty,

And no money left in the purse!

Maybe a wash really quick

The usual last-minute trick…

If worn un-dried

At least he tried,

‘Though if breezy that day, he’ll get sick!

–Jonathan Caswell

IS GOD NOT IN THIS CHURCH, TOO?

A natural temptation to leave,

For something one hasn’t received…

Di I ask

Help in the task,

Convinced I believe?

Received Spiritual books

In which he hasn’t looked…

Resource is there

But does he care,

To put his own effort to look?

My small ministry,

If I leave…where will they be…

Pastor leads hymns

But hoarseness then wins,

Sermonizing difficultly.

One less  person to pray,

For troubles along life’s way…

Why should they lose

Because I chose,

To go away?

–Jonathan Caswell

GETTING DOWN….

Each has their rhythm,

By which are we driven…

Getting down

Running aground,

Despite all that we’ve striven!

Today is one like that,

Mistakes tripped him flat…

Blood sugar’s high

–This time he knows why–

And Boss and he had a chat!

Coming back down to earth,

Has little time today for mirth…

Content to be

Satisfactory,

Allowed to stay on Earth.

–Jonathan Caswell

POSSIBILITIES CONTINUE

Possibilities continue,

Even if in a retinue…

Retinues royal

Take up the spoil,

As royal revenue!

Finding the ear of the King

To us is worth everything…

King Jesus Christ

Made sacrifice,

His praises we will sing!

Truly Christ is our Lord,

Through Him all is restored…

By Him alone

We approach God’s throne,

In Christ our ship is moored.
