A NARROWED FOCUS

Modelers, we all try,

To model what meets the eye…

What the eye sees

Has to please,

But is different than the “other guy!”

Some have enough room

To show long trains and cars zoom…

Acres and acres

Of fantasy makers,

Including , in some, Grant’s Tomb!

Others, including myself,

Must fit everything on a shelf…

Loading dock and trains

Not much room remains,

To show a city’s health!

Maybe a cross street,

We’ll squeeze in for a treat…

Splitting the train

So crossings remain,

Open while the puzzle we complete!

A HOT NUMBER

A hot little number is she,

Do you know who she might be…?

Red dress is hot

With all she’s got,

I admit, she’s a good-looking she.

AREN’T YOU FORGETTING?

A wild turkey flock in the snow,

Six or seven or so…

Grazing upon

Our side lawn,

Checked my pockets and…OH!

Thankfully had the house keys,

But no car’s or wallet with these…

Turkeys gone from our side lawn,

Prob’ly went into the trees!

HOW ABOUT A MODEL SCRAP METAL YARD?

I’d like to model

A recycled metal yard,

Just need some pictures of one

So it won’t be so hard…

At least have a siding

For waiting railroad cars,

Pictures of cranes and piles retained

That shows they’re working hard!

WHERE MY WIFE’S PEOPLE ARE

If I were to build a train

Layout in my wife’s name…

The Adirondacks

Would supply facts,

So she’d have a familiar game.

Running the D&H,

North Creek Branch  her favored page…

Sawmills and mines,

Hotels all kinds,

During her coming of age!

DESIGN CONUNDRUM

Ran into a tiny snag,

Or a way out of a paper bag…

Double track or twice -around

Both plans sound,

On either I could brag.

The old two by four feet pike,

Had a twice around I liked…

An oval outside

For long cars to ride,

As a display, it was nice.

Essentially not micros,

Normal  radius grows…

Longer train cars

Don’t overhang as far,

More space makes sense, I suppose!

But a “pizza” is a display round-and-round,

Small trains in circles are bound…

Simple-to-complex

One way to relax,

I hope I can “nail one down”!

–Jonathan Caswell

HE DID TRY…!

The time for trains around trees,

Was merely a technical tease…

Set up cardboard,

One circle assured,

(Wire the other layout…PLEASE?)

THROUGH THE THERAPY WINDOW:

Through Therapy’s panes,

A building rumble begins…

Rumble to roar
Shaking the floor,

Diesel exhausts to the winds!

Must be a “deadhead” run,

It’s dark when Polar “Expresses” are begun…

Two engines–five cars–

Under the stars

Carries joy to everyone.

A Providence and Worcester train,

Southbound for Santa by name…

Working his spell

Assisted by elves,

Lauded by story book fame!

GANDY DANCER DOINGS (N-SCALE TRAIN TRACK RELAYING AND ADJUSTMENT)

The passenger station prepared,

Won’t fit with the rail yard there…

But the bakery needs

Two switch leads,

So the yard switch can go over there.

The projected turntable’s too hard

To do and I haven’t got far…

But the stone engine house

Is easier to mount,

And the station will have a back yard!

Soldered joints makes it bad,

But minor with the problems I’ve had…

Most work out well–

A few, not swell–

But I’ll get it done, Galahad!

SUITCASE CONNECTORS—AYE!

The plot is becoming thicker,

His excuses start to flicker…

Won’t have solder

Each joint–don’t bother–

These connectors are just the ticket!

His N scale trains sit quiet,

Needs? He needn’t buy it…

All is in place

If only he’d face

This wiring project–just try it!!!
