GALUMPKI DINNER!

Apparently not all the same,

Galumpkis worthy of the name…

May be layered

with exquisite care,

Let’s trust it tastes “the same”!

Parboiled cabbage leaves

Surround meat and rice dutifully…

Ground meat

With rice complete

Adding spices beautifully!

some add tomato sauce,

Not as thick as spaghetti, of course…

Succulent juices

are never useless

Over mashed potato–starch source!

Reminds me of a youthful story,

cousin Suzie and I in our glory..

finished off a whole bowl

Of galumpki and potato,

Hungry teens–that’s my story!

TO CHRIST’S DISCIPLES “OUT THERE”:

This Poet has the method to his madness,

To share my Savior’s joy and gladness…

Enlisting Spirit vim

for those who hear Him,

And eyes would open in gladness.

It is to celebrate life,

To announce my love for my wife…

To share God’s gifts

Freely to enlist,

Souls to serve Him  for life!

At least that’s the crux of the matter,

Engaging in meaningful chatter…

I want to show

God’s love on the go,

Is going for ever after!!!!

GOING AHEAD WITH THE PLAN…

Signed my buddy in,

The desk will be neat as a pin…

He likes it clean–

Sanitized, I mean!

For when he ever gets in.

–J.E.C.

LISTEN TO THAT VOICE!

The voice in his head says, “DO IT,”

He’s not sure he’ll get through it…

Layout wiring–

His least favorite thing–

This weekend (maybe) he’ll go to it!

More than half the feed wires placed,

And he has willingly faced…

“Plugging” along

(Is a pun so wrong?)…

Then underneath wires are laced.

Power supply–nothing new–

A good power pack will do…

One has a short

Is it an abort-?

Maybe two small ones will do!

A GOAL TO AIM FOR…!

This NEW HAVEN RS-3

Is weathered beautifully…

Oil and smoke

It’s colors evoke,

The fact that it’s real you can see!

Weathering of a model

To look like much time on its throttle…

Takes stain and dusting

And  tradition-busting,

To produce seepage mottled!

Don’t if I can in N scale,

The worst I can do is fail…

Will  give it a try

And magnify,

A hard-working loco on rails!

COSPLAY COWGIRL!

(Image from atomicredhead.com)

According to a guy on TV,

The English (?) gladly…

Put on costumes

Because one assumes,

They want interesting lives madly!

Ready new lives to embark,

Dress up like the theme of a park…

Like Janey here

You’ll be sincere,

Making a positive mark!

A NEW HAVEN MOGUL—TECHNICAL DETAILS

As far as a Mogul goes,

It’s more familiar with headlight on the nose…

The firebox door

I tend to adore,

But up near the stack—I suppose!

More familiar with the BOSTON AND MAINE,

RAILROAD whose Moguls all the same…

Had headlights centered–

On them I was mentored–

Those cute little buggers so named!

Two N scale steamers in stable,

Changing the headlight–not able–

That Bachmann 2-6-0

Doesn’t come so,

But up in front of smokestacks it’s stable!

The one problem remains,

It’s letter like the BOSTON AND MAINE’s…

Two steamers are mine

I’d like one another line,

For NEW HAVEN—I can re-decal with that name!

GOOD THING I have a book–

NEW HAVEN POWER, by Jack Swanberg, to look…

For steamers that meet

That arrangement complete,

I’d have to butcher the engine’s front for a different look!

THANKFULLY New Haven Moguls exist,

Up where the smoke stack is kissed…

Just re-decal

And all will be well,

Or at least I’ll come close to the gist.

CHECKING BRIDGE CLEARANCES!**

ABOVE:  a NEW HAVEN RAILROAD Rail Diesel Car*  (BING IMAGE)

Worked on the Train layout,

An N scale one laying about (!)…

An eleven-inch curve

On his truss bridge (what nerve!),

Just happened to work out.

His N scale RDC*,

Rolled through easily…

Cemented the track

So it won’t spring back,

Prevented catastrophe!

A scale Eighty-five feet-

Long (N scaled) from his passenger fleet…

It took that curve

With nary a swerve,

His work in that end is near-complete!

–Jonathan Caswell

**NOTE:  He actually used a double track truss bridge which he shortened and removed the original two tracks from to lay his 11-inch model track curve inside—a bridge like the one below:

TELLING WHERE HE WAS GOING

Mike arose early today,

for a meet of A.A….*

To describe

Destination took time,

I needed pointing the right way!

Villages in that town,

Literally surround…

All sorts of names

While the mills have changed—

Some have been knocked down!

He forgot the exact name,

And so we played the game…

Known landmarks

Encompassing arcs,

Not always thinking the same.

Then he “came in” another way,

And light flooded in–HOORAY!

It was good–

His meet in Linwood–

To which he drove away!

–Jonathan Caswell;

*A.A. is Alcoholics Anonymous.  Mike is over 35 years sober.

ANOTHER COUNTRY HEARD FROM?

The trouble with baked beans,

Is undigested proteins…

Tend to collect

As you’d expect,

Unless extra enzymes  do their thing.

(Like BEANO)

Do you know why church seats are pews,

Carefully add up the clues…

Saturday beans

Provide the means,

If one eats many or phew!

These days, pineapple enzymes,

Are known  to decrease gas lines…

Better fresh

Uncooked, I suggest,

Wise practice for those more refined!
