FROM A CHARACTER WHO BLOGS POETRY…!

Advice from an “old man”

Don’t let the crowd command…

You to produce

A poor excuse,

But pick your ground and stand!

Having “LIKES” for posts is nice,

But some posts cut a deep slice…

Or folks bored

With that kind of sword,

Won’t be caught thinking twice!

Many older posts,

Look like towns with ghosts…

Not a LIKE

Or comment strike,

So much for a poet’s boasts!

–Jonathan Caswell

WHAT DOES A FASHION BLOG DO?

What does a fashion blog do,

In my case, to give ample views…

Of the currently stated

Fashion related,

To people who want looks new!

For me, an additional ken,

To write a suitable poem…

Appearance or design–

Either can rhyme–

Expressing lyrically then…!

Not only women count,

But am showing men’s–a small amount–

The opposite gender

I deem more tender,

And worth every verse that comes out!

–Jonathan Caswell

MAYBE A GOOD JACKASS KICK?

Trump said most recently,

Congress must see reality…

Force their spending

Like ours–unending,

Without taxpayer subsidy!

Republicans want to give up,

Business as usual stuff…

THEIR coffers full–

Why should they pull

For anyone when they’re ensured enough?

Check what I said earlier*

FEW POLITICIANS are pure…

Blind to our needs

While their guarantees,

Set them up royally for sure!

MODEL A COAL-FIRED PLANT?

Model a coal-fired power plant,

Environmentalist would say I can’t…

But history shows

There plainly were those,

So let those control hungered rant!

There are power plant advances,

Some environmentalists won’t take any chances…

That it might work,

And so they knee-jerk,

Against all but their own romances!

MY model power plant,

Burns alternative fuels at that…

Efficient scrubbers

Clean air for land lubbers,

Recyclable volumes–giant!

An opinion post—meant to be humorous–but some may find it offensive!  😀

TAKES COURAGE AND ENCOURAGEMENT!

It must take courage to pose,

In plain or fancy clothes…

The public eye

(including guys),

In essence the whole world she shows!

More for a purpose than money–

Some responses are  rummy–

Courageous means

Fulfilling fond dreams,

Good reason to flatten that tummy!

Amateurs know whom they are,

Accepting themselves above par…

Not letting shape

Become like red tape,

But showing we all can star!

GOD HOUSE, OH GOD HOUSE!*

Little stone pagodas,

In some garden corners…

Garden protection

By spirit direction.

Not wanting any reformers!

For those who believe,

These little houses conceived…

To spirits open

Gardeners hoping,

Blessing s are on the way!

For Christians, this garden art,

Tempts those who escaped  this part…

Of pagan belief

It is no relief,

Knowing spirits here park!

Some claim these are ornamental,

And we shouldn’t be judgmental…

If one has escaped

Being spirit chased,

Getting rid of these is fundamental!

When I see these—will they be removed?

No–each one chooses spirit truth…

We can pray

You’ll toss them away,

But it is your choice and your roof!

–Jonathan Caswell

*Please note that the subject of this poem is the author’s own opinion—no guarantees that either the provider of the illustration or anyone else believes as I do.  My friends have their own opinions and beliefs. Not everyone may be aware of what these cute stone pagodas represent, which I feel I should point out–then leave the deciding up to each person to decide for themselves!–Jonathan E. Caswell  I still love all you fellow bloggers!  🙂

An Opinion Poem

UNCERTAIN RECEPTION

He drives an intersection,

Fearing sudden connection…

When he slows

Someone chose

To cut him off by their discretion.

A blind curve to the right,

Going straight with flashing yellow light….

Those at the stop sign

On his right past the line,

Pull out causing him fright!

Natural tendency

Is to slow a bit for accuracy…

His straight lay

Drops out of sight,

Beyond which it’s hard to see.

Takes his life in his hands,

Because it depends…

Will traffic opposing

Just supposing,

Put his death into their hands?

–Jonathan Caswell

“RAILROAD”: APPLE SAUCE!

Familiar with these railroad lines,

Central New York State on time…

Delivery pursuit

Of harvested fruit,

Just up my interest line!

One brand using rail there is MOTT’S,

Applesauce, canned fruit, lots…

Activity

The railroad’s busy,

Pulling loads from loading spots.

My friends, Jim and Cornelia Mead,

Who on our Honeymoon guaranteed…

A ride on their train

A kind gesture of them,

I helped Tioga Central* succeed!

Jim Mead and Ontario Lines,

There railroad experience finds…

And Number Fourteen

Was obtained through them,

For “our” Museum on the main line!

–Jonathan Caswell

*See “NUMBER FOURTEEN’S FANCY DRES”, posted July 3rd.

The Tioga Central Railroad ran excursion trains and later freight trains out of Owego, New York, in conjunction with the nearby Tioga Transportation Museum.

E & M NUMBER 5

The Edgmoor  and Manetta  Railroad,

Has quite a story told…

Last in Steam–

A seventies dream–

A trestle break caused it to fold!

Old number five,

Was lovingly kept alive…

Shoving one way

In tiny display,

The rail fan press thrived!

Blankets  from the Lando Mill,

South Carolina, drilled…

Two boxcars

Maximum as far

As getting up the hill!

Coal and chemicals came,

In to manufacture the same…

Lasted for years–

The mill still clears

Blankets by truck–what a shame!

ABLE TO BE DISABLED?

His doctor says this he should do,

His social worker, too…

Would he qualify

When give the eye,

He’s not so sure he’d get through!

It means being out of work

A whole year, of being inert…

A chance he’d take–

Make or break–

If failure he’s left in the dirt.

According to rules on line,

He might not make it this time…

Discomfort and pain–

He can drive all the same–

And nowhere near the fine line!

He thinks: put up with his leg’s,

Discomfort in order to beg…

The question at hand

Understand,

He has things that he can’t renege.
