HALLOWEEN HAIKU

It’s never too late:

Halloween celebrating…

It’s family fun.

–J.E.C.

Before midnight comes

And it’s All Saints Holy Day

Let’s kneel down and pray!

–J.E.C.

Vandelism squashed

Families took back the night

The nineteen fifties!

Little ghosts need rest

Tomorrow’s another day

Put costumes away!

Imagination

Haiku inspired by the mind

Covered with…a mask

Gone all the candy,

Sugar high kids just can’t sleep…

Warm milk and stories!

Adults a grand time

Pushing the erotic edge

Skimpy means you’re cold!

AUTUMNAL EQUINOX

As of ten o’clock this morning ’twas here,

Ending of summer for this year…

The picnics you knew

And the hotdogs chewed,

And friends bring memories’ cheer.

Remember when old and grey,

Bittersweet feelings today…

More coats–no bikinis–

Autumn weather, harvest gleanings–

Perhaps a good time by the bay?

Green turning brown,

Halloween candy’s around…

Colorful days

In cooling haze,

Thanksgiving…soon inbound!

BURYING MR. BONES

BURYING MR. BONES

The day-after-day-after Halloween

Mr. Bones is hanging there…

A woman passes by,

For Bones she does not care.

She talked me into helping her

Remove the ghastly gent…

Soon as I touched him started his spiel

And that’s the way it went!

His eyes glowed red, his torso wiggled

Along with a deep-voiced laugh…

I tried to lay him down on the bench,

He pronounced our epitaph!

My friend proclaimed he couldn’t stay there,

Mr. Bones gave her the willies…

The way she shivered as he spoke

She acted very chilly.

She search for a resting place for Mr. Bones,

Took him and quick as a wink…..

Mr. Bones had his last hurrah

Folded under the kitchenette sink!

THE DAY BEFORE ALL HALLOWED’S EVE

THE DAY BEFORE ALL HALLOWED’S EVE

By the clock, one-forty AM.

And Saturday’s coming when…

Kids dressed as ghouls

(Riding toad stools?)

On neighbors’ candy supplies descend!

The candy’s been on the shelves months,

Ready for distribution just once…

Unless one counts

After Halloween discounts,

When folks stock up on amounts.

Pumpkin and candy corn

For Thanksgiving are reborn…

But candy eyeballs

For some appalls,

By Christmas that joke is well-worn!
