A REAL SHOCK I AM?

Finding a nearly-sixty-year-old,

Fashion poet leaves some rather cold…

A shock to see

The  elderly,

Actively trends they behold!

He sin’t always a saint,

But postive pictures he’ll paint…

Good exposure and pride

Knowing someone’s on their side,

Hoping his maleness isn’t a taint!

Again he must balance his views,

Determined to spread good news…

His challenge is to write

Poetic fashion insight,

Though alas, bias for certain styles–skews!

A fan of the button-up blouse,

It’s clean lines he’ll endorse…

Other styles

He compiles,

To show what they are, of course!

–Jonathan Caswell

VISUAL ACUITY

Seen a little above his  eye level,

Her button up blouse had several…

Fine qualities

At which he’s pleased,

But he stayed on the level!

MAYBE A GOOD JACKASS KICK?

Trump said most recently,

Congress must see reality…

Force their spending

Like ours–unending,

Without taxpayer subsidy!

Republicans want to give up,

Business as usual stuff…

THEIR coffers full–

Why should they pull

For anyone when they’re ensured enough?

Check what I said earlier*

FEW POLITICIANS are pure…

Blind to our needs

While their guarantees,

Set them up royally for sure!

–Jonathan Caswell

*See my poem  FIRESSTORM MATERIAL–POLITICAL, posted earlier today.

TAKES COURAGE AND ENCOURAGEMENT!

It must take courage to pose,

In plain or fancy clothes…

The public eye

(including guys),

In essence the whole world she shows!

More for a purpose than money–

Some responses are  rummy–

Courageous means

Fulfilling fond dreams,

Good reason to flatten that tummy!

Amateurs know whom they are,

Accepting themselves above par…

Not letting shape

Become like red tape,

But showing we all can star!

GOD HOUSE, OH GOD HOUSE!*

Little stone pagodas,

In some garden corners…

Garden protection

By spirit direction.

Not wanting any reformers!

For those who believe,

These little houses conceived…

To spirits open

Gardeners hoping,

Blessing s are on the way!

For Christians, this garden art,

Tempts those who escaped  this part…

Of pagan belief

It is no relief,

Knowing spirits here park!

Some claim these are ornamental,

And we shouldn’t be judgmental…

If one has escaped

Being spirit chased,

Getting rid of these is fundamental!

When I see these—will they be removed?

No–each one chooses spirit truth…

We can pray

You’ll toss them away,

But it is your choice and your roof!

–Jonathan Caswell

*Please note that the subject of this poem is the author’s own opinion—no guarantees that either the provider of the illustration or anyone else believes as I do.  My friends have their own opinions and beliefs. Not everyone may be aware of what these cute stone pagodas represent, which I feel I should point out–then leave the deciding up to each person to decide for themselves!–Jonathan E. An Opinion Poem

EMERGENCY SUPPLIES!

His shakiness increased,

Didn’t have much to eat…

A protein bar

He found so far.

His necessary treat1

With blood sugars dipping low,

He really should test to know…

Exactly how far

Down we are,

His “118” getting low!

–Jonathan Caswell

ABLE TO BE DISABLED?

His doctor says this he should do,

His social worker, too…

Would he qualify

When give the eye,

He’s not so sure he’d get through!

It means being out of work

A whole year, of being inert…

A chance he’d take–

Make or break–

If failure he’s left in the dirt.

According to rules on line,

He might not make it this time…

Discomfort and pain–

He can drive all the same–

And nowhere near the fine line!

He thinks: put up with his leg’s,

Discomfort in order to beg…

The question at hand

Understand,

He has things that he can’t renege.

PITHY THE LIMERICK WRITER

Limerick writers choose

If they’ll follow news…

Or focus

On certain business,

Poking others views!

Communists in California,

Seen by liberals as normal…

The public’s sucked in

For years this has been,

Their equating has just been acknowledged  in a matter formal!

Or do I focus on Christ—

His world-changing sacrifice…

Both things are true

Yet which to pursue,

Politics ALWAYS bites!

Of the two only Christ,

Reliably offers His lights…

Those other guys

Too often disguise

For whom they are acolytes!

Besides all this we note,

Not everyone’s in the same boat…

Politically involved

No sin resolves,

Politics is mostly getting someone’s goat!

So I choose Christ and will try

To not let my opinions fly…

But don’t worry

I will not curry

Favor of the other side!  🙂

THE SOKAL EFFECT–FOOLISH?

This poem is based in part on a late night radio discussion related to the SOKAL AFFAIR…a literary hoax perpetrated in 1996, by Alan Sokal, a physics professor at New York University and University College London.  He essentially produced a “scholarly” paper, submitted and accepted by a peer review professional journal…that was essentially a total farce, with big words and phrases meaning nothing and saying nothing—and nobody caught it or the joke!—Information via WIKIPEDIA.

The program on late night radio was on the Buck Sexton Radio program, heard on WTAG, 580 AM AND 94.9 FM..(I-HEART Radio).  or at http://bucksexton.com/  Two other men tried a similar stunt…which was similarly unquestioningly received…even by a certain very recent former President.

Anyway…my opinion of these scholarly attempts to wake people up:

THE SOKAL EFFECT–WHO WAS FOOLISH?

Two academics decided,

The SOKAL AFFAIR, to retry it…

They thought the echelon

Would soon catch on,

To the foolish words and not buy it.

Alas, they were amazed,

When the stupid thing was praised…

No one claimed to see

Its tomfoolery,

And no objections were raised!

Alas, poor academia,

Write crap–you think it love–

“Goobledegook”

As truth they took,

On which none suspected of…!

The authors, on Buck Sexton’s show,

Said academia scored very low…

Feeding such junk

To students who sunk

Under such high=priced foolishness—low!

It troubles me that they tried,

With hopes of opening eyes…

Weren’t they aware

That complicity there,

Had already stagnified?

Embarrassing people is the same

As a liberal calling bad names…

Same vocabulary–

What eye opening–

Wasting time on trite little games?

Truth must come by force,

Changing hearts, not playing horse…

Christ had to die

Be sin crucified,

To change a human soul’s course!

If you sound just like their friend,

Why expect foolishness’ end…

Look act like one

You’re shot before begun,

No matter what you’d intend.

A dirty joke it was,

A lot of people “buzzed”…

Doesn’t help squat

If the whole lot,

Misses the point of the cause!

(for whatever good this is!)

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

True gentlemen know what’s there,

but politely don’t stare…

A lower view

Is tempting, true,

Maybe the lovely doesn’t care?

These days whatever you say,

Often is taken wrong way…

Hardly yet gross

An alluring post,

Is a dressmaker’s good payday!

Gentlemen watch and learn,

Don’t let curiosity burn…

Research in private

What should be inviolate,

A woman’s respect is earned!
