TIME FOR BAKED BEANS!

TIME FOR BAKED BEANS!

Take two pounds of navy beans,

More if you have the means…

Soak overnight,

Prepared right

They’ll be the beans of your dreams!

Gotta boil them with baking soda,

Decreasing the produced gas quota…

Lessen the “piu”,

Guests are thankful too,

Reducing it to an iota.

Decide what they will bake in,

Crockery’s better than tin…

Season to taste

As taste buds wait,

Steamed brown bread will bring on a grin.

On pineapple we have reliance,

Enzymes found by science…

Help dgest the stuff

With a lot ess “puff”,

Raw on the side–please try it!

We use brown sugar and bacon,

Just a little mustard in making…

The best tasting bean

You ever have seen,

The fancier things we’ve forsaken!

TRAGIC DOWN SOUTH

TRAGIC—DOWN SOUTH

You think Daddies ought to test

If their sons are distressed

Before giving guns

Used in shooting runs,

The troubled man in uprest?

His victims invited him in

To gain relief from sin…

By his gun blast

Many breathed their last,

But Heaven has taken them in.

We’ve seen this pattern before,

An idiot parent thinks more…

Of his/her gift

That the souls that’ll lift

When a son leaves them dead on the floor!

With sympathy to the families involved.

DESCRIPTION OF A LOVELY FLEETING VISION

DESCRIPTION OF A LOVELY FLEETING VISION

The vision of her fleeting

Set the man’s heart beeting…

She glanced his way

As if to say,

“I’m not here for your needing!”

Slacks of soft pastel blue,

A white knit top nice to view…

Far and away

The best sight that day,

A memory worth the view!

His wife appeared and he was hers,

Spent too many years to immerse,,,

Himself in another

So look but why bother

Inviting an adulterous curse?

FORGIVE ME FOR IGNORING HOPE

FORGIVE ME FOR IGNORING HOPE

Instead of tying my rope,

I should be expressing HOPE…

In my God by faith

Is more than safe,

To anyone else it’s a slippery slope.

My Lord has helped me through

Even when I hadn’t a clue…

He and my wife

Have encouraged life,

In Christ I have it all new!

I’m sorry that the depressed

Oft avoid that which brings them distress…

Ignoring your hurt

Isn’t excuse to skirt

The means to our illness address!

I’ll be back in counseling,

Some issues I can’t alone swing…

l’LL say a prayer

Before I get there.

That you can do the very same thing!

–Jonathan Caswell

DEPRESSED–AND HOW?

DEPRESSED–AND HOW?

Is it that I’m off my feed

Or is it some inner need…

All that I feel

Is very real

And troubles intensely indeed!

I know I’ve been falling

Away from my calling…

Being distracted

By disability protracted,

Fighting yet suffered a mauling!

Popularity isn’t depression,

Except in professional session…

Like death, to avoid

We’d rather be buoyed,

Not listening to feeling regression.

Appropriate response, alas,

Most of us would rather pass…

Hugs are okay

But too far away,

For many–touching a stranger is crass.

Will you come sit by my side,

Let me talk out my fear and pride…

And risk an embrace

Lovingly, face-to-face,

Until the downer subsides?

–Jonathan Caswell

OH…GO OUTSIDE!

OH…GO OUTSIDE!

For hesitation or pride

He will not go outside…

A lovely day

Sunny just for play,

What reason to stay inside?

Things can do out there,

Like soak in the sun and air…

If one must

The car smells of must

And the backseat has junk to clear!

I know the light’s better in here,

So finish your writing my dear…

Then drive away

We need milk today,

None of this, inside, is going anywhere.

SUDDEN CONSTERNAYION

SUDDEN CONSTERNATION!

Programming changes in time,

But why foul up mine…

Programmed glitches

Leave us in stitches,

Generally a waste of our time.

Some choose to struggle through,

That may include me and you…

Pasting posts

Getting the most

Before the batteries are through.

For me it’s a common refrain,

Showing my need to complain…

When disruption ends

I’m happy again,

I’m onto another thought train!
