STRANGER THINGS…

Stranger outcomes happen,

When opportunity’s tapping,

Wanting in

And you begin

Writing ideas you’re trapping!

He’s written ’bout Christ and trains–

Weather seems worth one’s pains….

Fashion poems are new

As something to do,

And the challenge takes working brains!

I’d say it is channeling energy,

Most of which has left me….

Shapes and sizes

And stylish surmises,

Still need a bard’s entrée.

“An eye for the women.” one said,

Focusing on their clothes instead..

“Clothes make the man”

And women, and can

Leave little more to be said!

YET–a poet describes,

Details that emanate vibes…

Along a track

That likes feedback,

Both positive and wise!

MOON LANDING

(An opinion piece)

Some say it never happened,

That it was all a fake…

To make us believe a lie

Easy as cake!

I’m just not that cynical

Believing that theory true…

It wasn’t just on TV

And maybe some lost a screw.

Some of these same people

Believe in a “flat Earth…”

Evidence they provide–

One wonders how it’s birthed?

This week is the anniversary

Of landing on the Moon…

Denied by only those who don’t

Into the TV tune…!

NEARLY TIME FOR TAPS…

(One Poet’s Opinion)

American stars and stripes,

Wave in fading light…

Spotlights glow

So we know,

Out flag is doing alright.

As for the country we cringe,

What is the next freedom impinged…

Ignored laws unliked,

Disapproval spiked,

The Administration acts unhinged.

And our leader of the free world,

Hates the country where he’s raising his girls…

They’ve openly proved

Suffering leaves them unmoved,

Unless there’s a news crew to twirl.

The “Change” is here,

Reaching for freedoms held dear…

Does what he likes–

Avoids open mikes–

Eventually his plan was made clear.

The ultimate patriotic sin

Is to tear us down from within…

Conquer-divide

While goodies are eyed,

The rest of us thrown in a bin.

The problem is, both sides

Seem to have similar prides…

Quietly taking

From upside-down shaking,

While laws are broken–each abides.

Who will call this to task,

Doesn’t seem to be any to ask…

Will any act

Or all are in fact

Willing to put we voters dead last?

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

(An economic opinion)

Raising the Minimum wage?

The “Progressive’s” constant rage…

You will not progress

Because of largess,

The Liberals have you caged!

Do you want to do this for life?

Letting those in power knife…

Your improvement

Of yourself–that went–

You’re being kept down for their strife!

Why is a President proud,

Of increased violent crowds?

While he plays

Golf most days,

Partying often and loud?

It’s because he basks in power,

Liberal prospects tower…

Deceive you they will

And send you the bill,

And if you question–glower!

I really wish I could side

On the other political divide…

But conservatives too

Want goodies from you,

Watching their vowed principles slide!

Opportunities are out there,

Be real–stop beating the air–

Striving break free

Of given slavery,

If you won’t save yourself—who really cares?

Lucky to get a full-time, TAKE IT,

Work really hard to make it…

Caught at the bottom

Prospects are rotten,

Your human dignity–RETAKE IT!!!

CASHIER’S LAMENT

THE CASHIER’S LAMENT

The third shift cashier at PRICE CHOPPER explained

That soon that would close for stocking shelves the same…

But shoppers could not come in anymore!

Her really liked his job and difficult for another,

His customers were nice, treating him like a brother…

But his sad news he must tell.

Seems the corporate entity of PRICE CHOPPER *has changed,

“MARKET 32”  is he newly changed name…

And his store won”t open third shift anymore!

I nearly cried with Michael–his last name I forget,

He’s thinking of protesting–losing his job faster yet…

There’s not much one can do!

–Jonathan Caswell

PRICE CHOPPER is a grocery store chain originating in Amsterdam, New York State, spreading into New England…where the author is.

ALLITERATIVE ALLEGORY

ALLITERATIVE ALLEGORY

Total titillation

Does a man no good…

Overloading the system

Lessens effective wood.

Tougher becomes the price paid

To ensure a rise….

Tougher and deeper progress made

To satisfy the eyes.

Many the men fallen

Into morbid squalor…

Through the shadow of death they’re lost

In  that fearful “holler”.

Oh, the number of lonely men

And women in this trap…

Anyone saying it’s wholesome

Believes their own crap.

(an opinion…based upon reality!)

WHEN COMETH THE AIDE?

WHEN COMETH THE AIDE?

Monday morning phone call,

Aide will be later…

When they call and change the schedule

It makes less of a crater!

I really shouldn’t complain

But that’s what poets do…

The service I had with a different V.N.A.

Meant their “one” became a “two”.

Weekends were worst of all

Five towns had just one nurse…

The thing about being homebound was

You accepted who came first!

GIVE THEM TO THE YOUNG

GIVE THEM TO THE YOUNG

(An opinion piece)

Give many Word Press awards

To the young and their keyboards…

As they succeed

In creative deed,

The future they’re pointed towards!

Me–I’ll keep on grinding

Out poetry mostly unwinding…

I stay much the same

Common ground is my name,

With brilliance hardly blinding.

And YES—I am trolling–

For someone, my craft extolling…

Pictures are rare,

In words am I fair,

But the young…they keep us all rolling!
