CHURCH ATTENDANCE–A HYPOTHETICAL POEM

He rarely attends now,

It’s gone and got diff’rent somehow…

He feels pushed aside

Not welcomed inside,

No one’s been direct with him, anyhow!

They used to go faithfully,

Found the spirit there strong and free…

The Pastor moved on

And a preacher took on

Things with his own personality.

With his circle of friends,

For our subject, being close to a pastor ends…

You know his pride

Didn’t like “outside”

But he wanted to attend.

Then he and his wife

Both saw ill health in life….

Comparison

With others is sin,

And churned up internal strife!

The preacher/teacher and he,

(Too much alike?) weren’t happy…

It shifted into

“An authority over you”

Which wasn’t as healthy!

Various dissatisfactions

Led to complaints and  feigned actions….

Poor communication

Led to frustration,

In mutual distraction.

So now he stays at home

Sundays, with his wife alone…

No need to go

Taken for granted so,

But he’s stuck–this was his church home.

Socially depended on her,

His wife, for communication stirred…

When she took ill

He didn’t have the will,

To see that his opening up occurred.

He’s given his life for her,

Literally as it were…

Goes it alone

Reaching out he’s done,

Elsewhere–little left at “home”.

Options to go elsewhere?

Feels bound by his wife–so there!

Decision paralyzed–

Easier to survive

By himself, ‘though few benefits to share!

A “hypothetical poem”–which means it is just a poem….!

CONNIVING KITTY CATS!

The girl in the suit seems dismayed,

Her spot’s been taken away…

The tiger reclined

Is the one who “felined”

While the girl was at play!

This picture seems out of scale,

Little pussy cat’s big as a whale…

The glass is big too–

A close-up view–

Should think the woman would prevail!

Now if…it’s not her cat,

Spray bottles take care of that…!

Her lioness within

Emerges to win,

And the presumptive cat…would scat!

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

(An economic opinion)

Raising the Minimum wage?

The “Progressive’s” constant rage…

You will not progress

Because of largess,

The Liberals have you caged!

Do you want to do this for life?

Letting those in power knife…

Your improvement

Of yourself–that went–

You’re being kept down for their strife!

Why is a President proud,

Of increased violent crowds?

While he plays

Golf most days,

Partying often and loud?

It’s because he basks in power,

Liberal prospects tower…

Deceive you they will

And send you the bill,

And if you question–glower!

I really wish I could side

On the other political divide…

But conservatives too

Want goodies from you,

Watching their vowed principles slide!

Opportunities are out there,

Be real–stop beating the air–

Striving break free

Of given slavery,

If you won’t save yourself—who really cares?

Lucky to get a full-time, TAKE IT,

Work really hard to make it…

Caught at the bottom

Prospects are rotten,

Your human dignity–RETAKE IT!!!

(An opinion piece)

FAR MORE THAN DECORATION

FAR MORE THAN DECORATION

Mention the woman’s name “Holly”

And folks think about Christmas jolly…

Singing DECK THE HALLS

While a snow drift calls,

In a Christmas culturally “poly”.

She wanted to go away,

Then decided to stay…

Our Holly found

Without her around,

A lot of folks felt dismay!

Her writing’s a treasure trove

Fashioned in creative love…

Greeting each guest

She does the best,

And really has nothing to prove!

Last of all–to put up with me–

Requires  to the Nth degree…

Kindness unbounded

From a guy who’s hounded

His share toward insanity!

Love her romancing her–no–

But I love the rest of her so…

If I was available

She’d be assailable,

Why a guy hasn’t–I don’t know.

I fervently wish she can–

If she wants–to find a good man…

Whatever she needs

With my Father I plead,

That she may not leave us again.

Some day, of course, many will,

When blogging won’t pay bills…

Or another medium

Makes better comedians,

Then will our blog go still.

WANTED…CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

WANTED CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

The problem was both had hurts,

Committed by trousers and skirts…

Commitment to trust

Gathered rust,

Both thought the other curt.

Walls and grudges build

Despite commitments to yield…

Many a marriage

Is disparaged,

By combat in the field.

Obvious one doesn’t understand,

The other’s health demands…

One bends over,

The other takes over

And pushes one into badlands.

The verbose one wonders why

The silent one won’t try

to open

As they’re hoping,

To fill them in bye-and-bye.

The silent one’s thoughts run sarcastic,

The other one listens to drastic…

And half the time

Is not so inclined,

They both fall into that basket!

INERTIA CONQUERED

INERTIA CONQUERED

If you’ve ever been depressed

Then inertia you’ve addressed…

The sluggish move

Stuck in a groove,

That keeps one in one’s own mess.

I’m feeling some right now,

To it I’m not going to bow…

Missed church last week

I pledged to seek

Not letting it get me down.

Even if I felt sick,

It was more a deceptive trick…

If I had gone

Healing would’ve come,

Having gotten on the stick.

For months I’ve let it slow me,

Self-fulfilling prophecy…

Awash in a sink

Of negative think,

Yet folks prayed for me.

Once I’m there I’m blessed,

Social-spirit needs addressed…

What I think a crowd

You’d laugh out loud,

But I am easily distressed.

Not great with “small talk”,

I smile, eat and walk…

Few I find close

And I’m not verbose,

Soon enough I go to where I parked.

Diana, my wife, used to be,

My crutch in society…

She’d be talking

And I’d listen while walking

Behind her not saying much, actually.

Frequently on my own,

I fervently praise God through song…

Leading hymns

They say blesses them,

And thus we get along.

The Lord uses me

In ways I rarely see…

I accept who I am–

I’m His to command–

At church I have ministry!
