PRETTY AS A PICTURE

Is that a cowl neck I see,

This sweater fits her to a “T”…

A classy belt

Accentuates her svelt

Portions, lovely to see!

This sweater—a camel cream?

Allied with a pencil dress dream…

Opposites attract

Results here distract,

As a wonderfully  well-designed scheme.

An business woman ideal,

Her male colleagues—take a chill–

Notebook at her side

Sunglasses hide,

Reactions to compliment overkill.

AUTUMN HAIKU HERDING

AUTUMN HAIKU HERDING

Fall plantings are in,

Cabbages, hardy mums bloom…

Autumn colors glow!

Warm days–cooler nights

Ushering those southward flights…

Noisily birds fly.

Harvest time each year,

Dresses and skirts lower hems…

Less yield for the men!

Snow birds fly or drive,

Commuting to stay alive…

Rubber tires fly!

Children play in leaves,

Hot chocolate sales go up…

Deserted beaches!

Eggs and produce come

Veggies come from foreign lands…

Locally–now!

GOD’S SON

GOD’S SON

“I and my Father are One,”

That’s how he got things done…

Jews and Greeks

Muslims, Sikh,

Want to sidestep the Son!

All  have fallen short,

But man wants a god whose a sport…

Offering a wink

So sinners can slink

Into any safe port.

“Kiss the Son,” or be had

For disobeying  God’s Lad…

Only One way,

Salvation’s today,

No inheritance from Dad.

Father, Son, Holy Ghost–

Three-in-One, let’s toast…

Only in God we boast!

TANKA YOU—MOTHER’S DAY

TANKA YOU–MOTHER’S DAY

Mother, the red head,

Satisfied Dad with cooking

Organized the home

As I moved further away,

She never left me alone.

Her “baby” lives now

Because she made it her task

To value my life

All obstacles were bulldozed,

Hugs were rare, but life precious!

Arranging music,

Teaching angels how to sing…

Following my Dad:

These are what we think she does

When not praising her Lord God.

Her preaching licence

Set aside when she married

Two in ministry

He did the sermonizing,

She was his right and left hand.

I found a spray can

Of contraceptive bedside

Lovers late in life

Shock and awe at my parents,

Mom and Dad deserved some fun!

ADDED MATERIAL

ADDED MATERIAL

A friend drops off today’s paper,

Some days it’s fat–others–in taper…

All that I see

Is worth it to me,

The news about a caper.

FITNESS’ SAKE…ON BREAK

FITNESS’ SAKE…ON BREAK

They go out walking tall,

In winter, sometimes not at all…

Circling lots

And stopping at spots

To parse out folerol.

The Failure Analysis Team

Finds walking a useful scheme…

Allowing digestion

Of any suggestion

And for frustration calming!’

As many as four will do it,

Sometimes it’s who gets around to it…

Upper and lower

Lots they cover

Those who for some reason missed, tend to rue it.

In the daytime, squads of women

Go out, rather than swimming…

The “Y”‘s a ways

Away for most days,

Most would rather walk their break, not swim through it.

Occasionally just a pair

Of opposite genders walk there…

One wonders

If blunders

In their way would show budding romanitc air?

HEART THROB

HEART THROB

When she passes by it,

His heart erupts in riot…

The heart throbs,

It’s the hardest of jobs

At that point in time to keep quiet!

Been through it all before,

Each time she walks for the door…

I helped for a time

She needed mine,

A wheelchair pushing chore.

Cherishing each look,

but doing things by the  book…

Forbidden love

For an unknowing dove,

Remains for him a closed book!

Now nearly every day

His heart is stolen away…

Despite facts

He always acts

As if there were nothing to say.

(Nothing to say…!)
