WHY ARE FASHION BLOGGERS SO YOUNG?

WHY ARE FASHION BLOGGERS SO YOUNG?

Young women it seems to me’

Blog fashion plentifully,

Is most fashion sold

Aimed not at the old,

What’s the answer to this mystery?

Older models fill the pages

Of magazines for wages…

Is it that the young

Find it more fun,

To model for their own ages?

Whatever, I’m glad they are there,

E’en though I don’t have their hair (!)…

New fashions may

Come my wife’s way,

Which shows her that I care!

MY PASSING FRIEND

MY PASSING FRIEND

She’s the only one who remarked

About my freshly shorn hair…

The one who always stops

To smile when I’m there.

She is a good friend in passing

Nearly every night…

Never for harassing

But for spreading delight!

The ending of Sarah’s workday

Near the beginning of mine….

Coincides with a pleasant exchange

For one passing point of time.

PAIN-STABBED PIGGIES

PAIN-STABBED PIGGIES

Up at this hour to foil

Pain with aromatic oil…

In between piggies

Sharp ones and biggies,

Throbbing but not from toil.

Putting it on in the dark,

I feel it drip down to park…

On the other leg,

I sure would beg

It to stay where put, though in the dark.

As pain slowly fades away

Took insulin early today…

At four AM

I’ll say an amen

If this pain goes away!

SALAD AND BROCCOLI–RAW, RAW, RAW!

SALAD AND BROCCOLI–RAW,RAW,RAW!

(or nearly so)

I ordered Broccoli and Beef,

The broccoli part was chief…

Ingredient

And chewing went

Well considering my teeth!

Reminded me of my Dad

And the chopped-up salad he had…

Which he barely chewed,

His puree’ he viewed

With words that sounded so sad!

FANCY WELCOME

FANCY WELCOME!

After six months got a snort

Of real nice perfume (good sport)…

In a fluffy red sweater

She never looked better,

At least that’s what he’ll report.

‘Twas¬† great seeing Irena K,.

Who missed him when he was away…

She happily cried

Seeing him inside,

I think she’d like him to stay!

Too bad cameras weren’t allowed,

She did herself up really proud…

Flowing blonde hair,

A good figure there,

And she said, “WELCOME BACK ūüėĬ† ” out loud.

*Picture is the closest example the author could find…right down to the smile on her face!

NO DIFFERENT “DOWN EAST”

NO DIFFERENT “DOWN EAST”

We’d like to visit Maine,

But now it’s much the same…

Melting snow piles

And weary smiles

Waiting for springtime plain.

Like us they’re tired

Alternately wired…

By long hours

Fighting snow showers

Paying the extra plows hired.

Nearly out of salt

To keep up the lively assault…

Snow-covered roads,

Icy ones goad

Town employees to help out.

A CORDUROY SKIRT & JACKET

A  CORDUROY SKIRT AND JACKET

(sing to THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS)

A corduroy jacket

And skirt are going to be

The next sewing project

My love does, you see…

She’ll make it from material

That cost a lot of “dough”

But I do like the pattern

And will love her in it so!

Oh, the patterned blue fabric,

A fancy corduroy…

Is worth the glow in her eyes

When I paid for this joy;

She’ll have her new sewing machine

Which I guess I’ll set up too,

And help her with the making of

Until the set is through!

We can’t afford to hire help

Except for a tip or two,

This pattern cost a lot to get

But she’s not feeling blue…

Except to say my illness brought

Her project to a halt,

Just taking over for her love

She did not find me fault.

My BLUE SAPPHIRE OF JOHNSBURG (see Archives!)

Is the best one for me,

She takes up the slack I bore

And responsibility…

The least I can do for my love

Is allow a corduroy bolt,

To help her smile a good long while

And scamper like a colt!¬† ūüėÄ

GREAT GRAVITATIONAL GRAVATAR!

GREAT GRAVATATIONAL GRAVATAR!

A blogger said I looked too fat,

Now what did she mean by that…

My blogging thumbnail,

Seven years in the pale

Says nothing on how I’m now sat!¬† ūüôā

Technology challenges real

Prevent more recent reveal…

Film undeveloped

And selfies untaken,

The S.L.R. camera

Takes concentration,

With nothing new

To print I’m in trouble;

If she wants “me” current

I’ll make a plan on the double!

A NEW SERIES !

A NEW SERIES!

A bucket list author assured

Himself that his work endured…

Did awful in sales

But he prevails

By putting pieces out as lures!

¬†¬†¬† I had me a book manuscript nearly ( ? ) completed…and suddenly decided not to publish, at least not at that publisher, as nice as the new staff .¬† Maybe I will send it to them but not just now.

ON THE RECEIVING END,

by Jonathan Caswell

SO…on this blog, BY THE MIGHTY MUMFORD and my other blog, THE MARVELOUS MUMFORD–and maybe some teasers at OUR POETRY CORNER–I’ll be posting poetry from the alleged book until I figure out where and how to formally publish it–if at all.¬† ūüôā

THE BOOK…is about my recent experience over the last six months or so, damaging, ignoring, losing two toes on my right foot by amputation, rehab. and recovery.¬† The basic premise–with other observations added–is to look at how difficult doctors, caretakers and such like me ( ! ) make such terrible patients, when it’s our turn to be cared for!

Other bloggers use some titles repeatedly as categories.  Each of mine here are what I plan to use in the book, which is, as you know, semi-autobiographical.  These subtitles will be (in this series):

READY…AIM…FIRE!

(Who makes poor patients and maybe why?)

THE HEALERS

(Nurses, therapist, aides from hospital, rehabilitation and home care I’ve known)

REHAB RUMINATIONS

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

(Various related issues of interest)

THE END OF THE MATTER?

BY HIS FINGERNAILS

BY HIS FINGERNAILS

(If he has any left.)

His long ordeal seems done,

The battle with amputation almost won…

But occurence

Of ending insurance,

Worries his future to come.

Received a continuance letter

Which helped him feel somewhat better…

Answers come slow

By snail-mail you know,

But his¬†social worker–he’s glad to have met her.
