YOU’VE HELPED…!

YOU’VE HELPED…!

And now you’ve helped me see

The good that is within me…

I needed not pictures

Or rigid strictures

To find value from thee.

To talk with literaries

And answer your queries…

Has given me hope,

Energy to cope

Without too many raspberries.*

Your kindnesses–overwhelming–

Ideas for pieces jelling…

Your great gift

Is providing lift

For happiness beyond telling!

Tempted to look to the flesh

For comfort in fantasy mesh…

You provided

A positive-sided

Way without mental undress.

 Friends keep friends going strong,

So glad I’m invited along…

Without you–MAN–

I’d be in the can

Singing an uglier song!

I praise God for all of you,

Regardless if you believe too…

Believers are great

But to participate

With all, helps me get through.

RISKY RESOLUTION

RISKY RESOLUTION

I held my breath today

At what I was about to do…

Scatter by E-mail,

A poetic piece new.

A piece about God’s blessing

In mountain moonlight seen…

Creation as a glowing reminder

To look up toward His being.

Got feedback from one of my friends

Who said it came just in time…

Still holding my breath for others concerned,

But her returned blessing is mine!

–Jonathan Caswell

MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN REFLECTIONS

MIDNIGHT MOUNTAIN REFLECTIONS

Moonlight on Crane Mountain,*

Godly glow around…

Take stock of blessings

Listening creation sounds.

Cool as dew has fallen,

Not cold enough to freeze…

Hear the Master calling:

Love Me more than these?

Wood stove warms against the cold,

Sit we either side…

Talking far into the night

In our Lord’s love abide!

–Jonathan Caswell

THE JOTS AND TITTLES

THE JOTS AND TITTLES

Arguing jots and tittles

Of changes the Bible belittles…

Minor changes

Are no proof of dangers,

That its accuracy is just spittle!

ADVENTURE–NOT JUST VACATION!

ADVENTURE–NOT JUST VACATION!

Synopsis of a week Up-state,

A visit for me and my mate…

A dead battery

Begins it you see,

And lots more left on the plate.

We both made the trip without grumbling,

(That fact especially humbling)…

Making good time

Before the sun’s decline,

The car not ever stumbling.

The next day the battery

Quit, was jumped frequently…

Next door’s garage

Wasn’t a mirage,

And changed it eventually!

Then my Diana and me

Spent time in Emergency…

Two separate days

In our own ways

And she came out sooner than me!

I visited the local train station,

Finding myself in consternation…

The camera was home–er,

I’d done me boner,

That didn’t help the situation.

That visit I found all three

Train engines posed for me…

The next time–not–

Just two I got,

The third went south for duty.

That Saturday as we were leaving,

A Railfan Day was receiving…

Special views

With the train crews,

But we had just that day for leaving.

My wife found her blueberry pie

While shopping for the food supply…

And got some ice cream

(Mountain prices: a scream!),

Before we waved “bye-bye”!

FOR HER SIXTIETH….

FOR HER SIXTIETH….

I will not get her black balloons,

THAT would be cruel…

The kind of joke expected

From wiseacres at school.

I married an older woman

But can plainly see…

That sharing lives, no one denies

She is to me beauty.

It helps to know, when all is said,

We need ech other, too…

On your sixtieth birthday

My Diana–I love you!

A SUMMER TREAT

A SUMMER TREAT

My summer treat is lobster,

Most often precooked,

I haven’t felt much like it

So this yea haven’t looked…

Tonight in the “vend-a-snack”

I saw a lobster roll,

Suddenly it seemed good

To loosen my control.

In a vending cooler, it costs a lot

Compared to restaurant fare,

But just for a taste

I’m glad I found it there…

Along with the caffeine

Of sodas I did buy,

Opportunity often knocks

When a pleasure to the eye!

WATER FAERIES IN DISGUISE

WATER FAERIES IN DISGUISE

Water Faeries wait in lower grassy fields,

Clothed as low mist in eventide…

Condensation rising cooler nights yield

Fuzzy cloaks where faeries would abide.

In amongst the grasses where little folk stay

Faeries hunt blessings neighborly…

Cooler autumn evenings replace warmer days,

We see these special folk but rarely!

Many don’t believe in sprite, faerie or faun,

Seems that science has put them away…

But those believers with a child-like heart

If they are careful–may see them come out to play.

THIS POET WOULD LIKE TO MENTION

THIS POET WOULD LIKE TO MENTION…

This Poet would like to mention

His thanks, for all this attention…

The seven-thirty eight

Blog followers are great,

We’re having an artistic convention!

The folks that allow reblogs

Are ones really spinning the cogs…

I’m grateful to be

In such fine company,

Without them I’d be lost in the bogs!  🙂
