MORE TECHNICAL GLITCHES

The gmail is offline,

At least during working time…

I get it at home

On the lap top my own,

In the home wi-fi range, any time!

A couple of “Carl Gooch’s” on tap,

For when I get home before nap…

Or tomorrow

Some time I’ll borrow,

To cut the mustard and…ZAP!

If I see you in the Reader I can,

SHARE..normally and…

Use “buttons” that work–

Not go berserk,

But get it reposted as planned.

DEPENDS ON THE YEAR (WHAT WERE YOU DOING THEN, ON 9/11-?)

Nine-eleven, that very day,

Was working Security on the way…

In the cafeteria

Caught  hysteria,

Was it truly the planes’ flight?

The missus nearly ready

In a facility set off the unsteady….

She got away

The very next day,

To cope back at home from the city!

Two cousins of mine closer in,

Both had troubles begin…

Much better now

Each separately housed,

Life got rough in the dust and  din!

EATING POPCORN NEATLY!

He’d seen it all before,

Popcorn all over the floor…

For sure the next guy

Would  give hue and cry,

Insisting he eat it no more!

This time a plastic bowl

Keeps better fragment control…

The messiness beaten

All kernels eaten,

His partner won’t howl so!

A HALLWAY HELLO

Walking back with my drink–

Four chocolate espressos I think–

I asked Ziggy

Had he the elevator key,

Did he think I’d make a stink?

He said “yes” and I said okay,

His tense face melted away…

Not the only cleaner

But also Regina,

To work Independence  Day!

–Jonathan Caswell

GOTTEN GOOD!

GOTTEN GOOD!

His boss coaught him too early,

Preparing for when less squirrelly…

He was later boggled

Felling hornswoggled

His boss blocked the sites he saw early!

EARLY MORNING HAIKU

EARLY MORNING HAIKU

Room lights on to work,

No one out to wave or call…

Blogging all for me!

This time at work Steve

Listens to radio feed…

Radio Ghana!

WJR–Detroit,

For years has has night air time…

Until day-time  hours!

Getting sleepier,

Composing not as easy…

I suppose…bed time.

MY FAVORITE AT WORK

MY FAVORITE (REDHEAD) AT WORK

She came on by me with a big smile,

The cutest thing she’d read in a long while…

Wasn’t even mine*

But a friend’s return lines,

She thinks I’ve started a trend…by guile?

* See: “A RESPONSE TO…THE SINGING GUARD…by Lise Ledoux (Posted this blog, yesterday)

PERSONAL FIEFDOM

PERSONAL FIEFDOMS

Putting on the lights just now

On the outside and parking lots…

Reminded me of little duels

We had at certain spots.

The shifts back then had two of us

Working together…

And who did what had to be fought,

Depending on the weather.

When the outside lights went on

Was the province of the Desk…

One light switch for the porch

The “At Large” guard could wrest.*

With two-guard shifts behind me,

Except during daytime…

I only have myself to control

And that is so sublime!

–Jonathan Caswell

* “wrest”…an older form…the base word of “wrestle.”

PASSING OUT!

PASSING OUT!

Maybe you’re the kind of one

Who likes to pass things out…

Helping Momma or yourself,

With a giggle or shout.

I will pass my poetry

To those who appreciate…

This form of creativity,

Their reaction “pays the freight”.**

My boss stopped me at work

From handing out my nuggets of joy…

I guess possibly offending someone

Would affect his and my employ.

There’s a third-shift cashier–actually two—

For which I keep a smile…

They have no computer access

So I share with them a while.

One or two folks near home or at work

Get a copy, if it’s something good…

One or two folks I work with,

My poetry, have understood.

–Jonathan Caswell

NOTE**: To “pay the freight” is another way of saying you get enough back by doing it to make it worth your while…worth your effort.
