A MINISTRY TO THE CHINESE…IN AN AMERICAN COLLEGE

A MINISTRY TO THE CHINESE…IN AN AMERICAN COLLEGE

In college I met a man
From China whose plan….
Whose British accent
Showed he went
Teaching English in his homeland!

He planned an M.A.-History,
Cortland had no English degree…
His wife and he
Had two kids nearly three,
But after graduation—he’d see!

Mr. Chen asked many questions,
With some useful suggestions…
Found him a room
Nearby to assume,
Where Mrs. Kneedler and I fielded questions!

I helped him pick up his wife,
In Rochester, New York’s study life….
She came to him
I left for Binghamton
Giving them privacy.

I don’t know if he came to the Lord,
But to his homeland he never returned…
Divorced his wife
Started new life,
With another whose heart freedom burned.

WHEN I GO “HOME”

WHEN I  GO “HOME”

Binghamton, where I grew up,

Slowly fades from mind…

That’s where my parents are buried,

No reasons or questions to find.

Basically ignored High school,

Growing up wasn’t much fun…

I cut across clique lines as a rule,

Never settled in just one.

The one former girlfriend I’d want to see

On Facebook, refused contact….

Differing politics probably,

I’m not  into Liberal “facts”.

Why ignore the rest of the crowd,

The wholesome people I knew…

Don’t really know except

That that hassle of life is through!

The “home” I have is really my wife’s.

The house in which she was born…

Traveling with her up there once a year

I cherish it every morn!
