Losing bank cards he mutters,
Just as often for lost peanut butter…
But that’s in the car
But the other so far,
Hasn’t been found by one or the other!

Columbus had men who slept
During days while the nights kept…
Watch at posts
For men or ghosts,
Watching over the inept.
–
This happens yet today
While office folks are away…
Security stands
As need demands,
Minding the store night and day!
–
Columbus Day I’ll work
Time -and-a half the only perk…
That, and quiet
You just can’t buy it,
We enjoy that with a smirk!

Foraging in-between,
Highway and exit ramp seen…
Acorns and grass
Singly en mass,
Turkeys and deer in-between!

RIDDLE-BROOK–where we live,
You’re on your own if no one will drive…
My wife and a friend
Play SCRABBLE TO WIN,
The most fun they can derive!

Forgetful is he lately,
Gently reminding needs he…
One more he forgot
Among a whole lot,
Calendar posting?–not he!

Google Image…not of the author and his wife!
The subject is hard to admit,
Some things, we’re over it!…
Bodies change
Hormones rearrange,
Some body parts have quit!
–
Holding hands and lip kisses,
Thrilling electric charge this is…
Just being near
Brings a teaar,
Happy to be near the Missus!
–
She sleeps better when I
Choose to sit quiet nearby…
Passion’s nearly gone
But love ventures on,
Striving toward that sweet bye-and-bye.

He’s reading an interesting book,
His poem thinking’s near cooked…
Taking a break
For his brain’s sake,
Riding in on a narrative hook!

I wonder how many remember
The “August trots” into September?…
Tomatoes galore
Receiving more,
A bounty for family members!
–
We like that spaghetti squash.
Over-cooked with panache…
She like stir fry
With enough to try,
And no leftovers tossed.
–
Certain things we don’t eat,
But berries and oatmeal are neat…
With enough ice cream
With berries–a dream–
Enough fruit we’ll less likely cheat.
–
Fresh vegetables are the prize,
Overwhelming the eyes…
With no BEANO here
The air’s never clear,
Prepared ones are ever wise!

Jumped into his fire boots,
Equipment at the ready….
Set up an E.T.A.*
And left a note for Betty.
–
Sped along the highway,
weaving through traffic…
“Where is the fire man,”
If he’s late it’s tragic!
–
Pulled into a parking space,
Officer met him…
Have to get home before
It turns into bedlam.
–
Called up superiors
For agreement to sign in…
Writing out poetry
To fill the quiet din!

E.T.A.*…Estimated Time of Arrival
“quiet din”…so quiet it roars!
bedlam…a crazy situation
Betty…an fictional entity!
Back from balmy Michigan,
The rain they lived in starts again…
From the limousine
They were rather keen,
To dry off before journey’s end!
–
The guard invited them in,
To dry off , have a break and leave then…
both glad to arrive
were ushered inside,
Their company’s building AGAIN.
–
He drove off in the rain,
She had a ride coming twain…
Sheltered inside
She saw her ride,
‘Twas pleasant invited out of the rain!
