MOURN WITH THE MOURNING…ROMANS 12: 15-16

MOURN WITH THE MOURNING

(Romans 12: 15-15)

Today doing extra work time

So a friend’s by his Momma’s side…

Tomorrow we’ll see

What will be,

Depends if she recovers all right.

Being diagnosed with cancer,

There are no easy answers!

I’ll be a support

So he can reach safe port,

I too, have lost to cancer.

ANNIE’S GONE AWAY

ANNIE’S GONE AWAY

Annie Grondin’s gone away,

By this morning’s light…

There’s not much that we can say

But a fond goodnight.

Suffered with cancer did she long,

Her family rallied ’round…

Glad to see them in her final days

For they couldn’t always be found.

Her voice reminded me of folk,

My South Street relatives’ clan…

Her shaky twang spoke of home

In southern New England.

As a neighbor she was fine

‘Though she smoked like a chimney pot…

It seems to have gotten her in the end,

A case of lung cancer rot.

A MAN’S PREFERENCES

A MAN’S PREFERENCES

This man would blog on the figures of women

He likes and generally approves….

But considering the kind of audience he aims for,

Some wisdom is wise to behoove.

Ladies can blog about their experiences

And how to please a man….

I’m restrained to not turn off women

For whom I’ve offered a scan.

My wife and I don’t have many secrets,

“We” had cancer, rather than kids…

And other conditions with which we’re familiar

Are better off kept “hid.”

Alas man’s mind is well-documented,

No need to expose any thrust…

Of thought process, to man it’s important

How hair, body, personality are trussed.

My wife keeps telling me of male actors

She had designs on, way back when…

I hesitate to tell her of my “old loves”,

For fear feelings rise up again.

I have enough “trouble” as it is to not incite

Feelings of love that grow…

I choose loyalty to my life love,

Don’t need “juice” for another to flow.

So if you are a lady who wants to bare all,

I may or may not spare a look…

For I’ve chosen to submit to my wife

And to the Bible, God’s Holy book.

WHY WOULD A LOVING GOD PERMIT…???

WHY WOULD A LOVING GOD PERMIT…???

A Christian recently

Asked this question of me…

He had no answer

For shootings or cancer,

That others had asked ceaselessly.

I promised I would try,

With God’s help to reply…

We each have a voice

In our lives and a choice,

To live for Him or “I”.

If God wanted, He could have got,

Some attention from a programmed robot…

But love is in choosing,

Not coerced accusing

So He gave us the choice from the start.

Some things are not chosen, like menses,

But every choice has consequences…

When His wisdom is rejected

A different consequence is selected,

Determined by past/present tenses!

God wants His children to run

Toward Him, but He won’t force anyone…

As a Father he waits

Until we appreciate,

All the blessings He will do for those who come.

Some folks talk about a loving God,

But their vision of Him is really odd…

They want to be pampered,

Left in diapers to scamper

Around with an adult bod.

In life, we have suffering and pain,

No one totally understands what we gain…

But those who have matured

And life’s hardship endured,

Know better how to love, all the same.

Now I’m not saying anything new,

Would a bride want a groom acting as though he were two?

Our parents may want to shield

Us from the worst that life deals,

But one grows by living it through.

Is God still loving–He surely is,

He’ll use even bad times for His kids…*

To grow up and mature,

In faith greatly endure…

Everyone faces suffering as Christ did.

For this is a fallen world,

That into, every one of us is hurled…

Will you suffer angrily

Or submit to Deity,

Facing life as a child of God, as it’s unfurled?
