WOULDN’T YOU KNOW IT?

I can my adventures tout,

I managed to lock myself out…

Banged on the door

take pity on this poor,

victim of his own fault!

My badge clip dropped off it’s string,

Leaving a clip with nothing…

Ziggy rescued me

From an outside “pee”,

Must find a way to not have it jump off it’s string!

It’s embarrassing outside to pee,

With cameras watching me…

I can’t tell where

But they are out there,

Watching diligently.

Now I’m back inside,

Till my relief comes I’ll abide…

Inside that door

So if the badge drops to the floor,

I won’t be stuck outside!

TOMATOES…ANYONE?

I wonder how many remember

The “August trots” into September?…

Tomatoes galore

Receiving more,

A bounty for family members!

We like that spaghetti squash.

Over-cooked with panache…

She like stir fry

With enough to try,

And no leftovers tossed.

Certain things we don’t eat,

But berries and oatmeal are neat…

With enough ice cream

With berries–a dream–

Enough fruit we’ll less likely cheat.

Fresh vegetables are the prize,

Overwhelming the eyes…

With no BEANO here

The air’s never clear,

Prepared ones are ever wise!

SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT, WHY DON’T YOU!

He thought he’d done okay,

This time he’d get away…

Momentary lapse

Would have perhaps,

But he logged it anyway!

He’d given the wrong kind of badge,

A short-notice slip, not bad…

But logging it  all

Was his downfall,

His boss said HIS BOSS missed it by a tail.

The practice wasn’t bad

Implicating himself had…

Risked them

Signing review sheets again,

At Caswell, everyone would be mad!

THE SIN OF ACHAN–REVISITED

THE SIN OF ACHAN—REVISITED

(Joshua 7: 1-26; Joshua 24: 14;   Acts 5: 1-11)

Achan took his goodies and went,

Buried them under his tent…

Slaughter at Ai

Convicted the guy,

Was rocked to the ultimate extent!

If you promise to serve the Lord

Do everything above board…

Do not keep gods

With Him they’re at odds,

If you wish blessing from Him restored.

Ananias and Sapphira sold land

Putting money in the common can…

Not volunteering that they

Kept back some that they,

Thought would fool God’s Holy man.

The man who had hidden a prize

Knew he couldn’t face Jesus’ eyes…

With pain, let go,

Deleted “his” show,

From the Bible I’;d say he was wise!

THE NIGHT WATCHES

THE NIGHT WATCHES

Illumined magnifying glasses

Help this saint find passages…

Rendering God’s Light

In the watches of night,

Enriching one as time passes.

Remembering doctrine ain’t enough,

Knowing where to find it is tough…

Making it up

Fills God’s fury cup,

God’s word  diluted by fluff.

GOD’S MATCH?

GOD’S MATCH?

(An opinion)

They say it’s God’s match for you,

A Christian dating view…

Potential mates

Lined up at gates

Once Christian college purview.

A vision of godly life

Enhanced by husband or wife…

Neglecting all

The words of Saint Paul,

Who would save believers great strife.

Loneliness–who can take–

Even for the Lord’s sake…

Flocking in hordes

To marketing words

Whom profits from Christians will rake.

Soldiers ignoring battle,

Preferring a baby’s rattle…

Energy meant

For the Gospel is spent

Acquiring a mate with chattel.

God’s Kingdom is long-delayed

For all the games that are played…

Marrieds aren’t free,

Not used as readily

And whose weakness is more readily displayed.

To some it may seem heartless

To advocate less finding partners…

Matthew 6:33

Is a believer’s key

To making a dent in the darkness.

THE DARKENED COMMUNITY ROOM

THE DARKENED COMMUNITY ROOM

Posting at the computer screen,

Hear whispers of slippers unseen…

He would crane his neck

But then, what the heck,

Not everyone for talking is keen.

An elder sits by the tree

Lit up so Christmasy…

To read his mail

Until daylight fails,

With a comment or two for me.

In the darkness, colored lights glow,

An allusion of God’s Gift, we know…

So lights twinkle through

Spruce branches (blue),

Reminding of memories in tow!

Peacefulness in here selected,

And soon my own mail’s collected…

Of places to post,

He likes this the most,

Where rhyme and down time are perfected.
