EARLY SATURDAY BUSINESS

A little after five he awakened,

Emails he had to be making…

C-pap supplies

Before his die,

But no connections he’s making!

(Even at the website!)

PEBBLE PETER AND OTHER STORIES

PEBBLE PETER AND OTHER STORIES

Remember Peter the Pebble*

Who never spoke in treble…

Whose heart was base

Til Jesus faced

Him and changed Peter into new metal!

Paul, 1st Century ground-pounder,

Took it seriously not to flounder…

Barnabas and he

Might have to flee,

Returning when control was sounder!

The Apostles traditionally

Took God’s Word internationally…

Jerusalem and out

Evangelists stout,

Struggled to set people free.

—Jonathan Caswell

* Refers to “Peter the Pebble,” a poem in the author’s book, SPIRIT-LED LIMERICKS AND OTHER CHRISTIAN POETRY, available at amazon.com and elsewhere!

ON AGING…THE SERIES?

ON AGING—THE SERIES?

He gets up at six or five,

A part of being alive…

He’ll achieve

The effort to breathe,

Before into bed again dive!

Watching Saturday westerns,

Roy Rodgers, black-and-white veterans…

The bad and good

Were understood,

Reality wasn’t mentioned.

To us kids it was a lark,

Playing cowboys in the park…

Older now

I realize how

Judgment and characters start.

Old Roy didn’t have street smarts

Unless they were hidden arts…

Few complications

In situations,

With singing before we.d part!

Up at the crack of dawn,

How long will this go on…

Til the hand finally slips

And loses its grips,

Then the one who grew up is gone!

MORE PENTATETTE GOODIES!

That Vicodin sure is narcotic,

Prescribed for pain chaotic…

That ten-out-or-ten

Pain level’s when

The patient gets almost psychotic!

–J.E.C.

(“J.E.C.” is short for Jonathan E. Caswell)

I’ve read a book by Crighton

The plot of which tended to frighten…

Adromeda strain

Bleeds out the brain,

Bacteria put the bite on!

A MINOR PROBLEM

A MINOR PROBLEM

Our car at the start needed jumping,

A let-down worthy of grumping…

A friend got us going

My cables bestowing

The start of really something!

LIMERICK’S VIEW ON A SONNET

LIMERICK’S VIEW ON A SONNET

Sonnet writing, one participates,

In intellectually tempting fates…

Are those fourteen lines

Worth all that time,

When all the guy wants are a few dates?
