CHERRY BLOSSOMS

CHERRY BLOSSOMS

From the Orient

Friendship ties and harmony

Spread throughout the world

–J.E.C.

April pleasure sight

Delicate blossom display

International

Trees of friendship underway

Sharing joy to all today

–J.E.C.

The April cherry trees,

Make glad those buzzing bees…

Who service each flower

Hour upon hour,

Abundant blossom–the bee’s knees!

–Jonathan Caswell

Blossoms abundantly rich,

Whose beauty causes an itch…

To put down

Weapons aground,

And find a peaceful niche

(niche being mispronounced as “nitch”)

–Jonathan Caswell

(New lyrics to YHE JELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS)

Oh…those Washingtom Cherry trees

Are really quite a sight,

Folks visit from all around

To bask in pinkish light…

We thank the Japanese who gave

This wondrous sight to us

Delicate blossoms which

Gently our cheeks buss!

From cities around the world

Come gentle oohs and ahhs,

Because these groves of cherry trees

Proclaim a peaceful cause…

Maybe, like the cherry tree

Man will decide in time,

To make amends for all our faults

And peace on earth to find!…

Yes man to put down all our faults

For peace on earth to find!

WILL HE EVER LEARN?

WILL HE EVER LEARN?

(to the tune of THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS)

He wished he’d had a dollar

For ev’ry doufus play,

He wouldn’t be quite as poor

From the money thrown away…

He could at least please his wife

In what they’d get to do,

Perhaps to struggle not as hard

To get themselves through!

An expensive form of schooling–

This “seat-of-the-pants” approach,

And if he gets to fly somewhere

He’ll have to go in Coach…

Let’s hope he learned his lesson

And will next time be sure

He needn’t have to panic-spend

But act somewhat mature!

–Jonathan Caswell

FIFTY DOLLARS APIECE!

FIFTY DOLLARS APIECE!

(Tune of  THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS))

A fifty-dollar passenger car–

Sixty, normally,

Two N scale coach cars–B  &  M–

I ordered just for me…

These N scaled, detailed, beauties

Had interior lights and all,

Put on reserve–tooling delays–

Became my own downfall!

I fell down in October

During work last year,

Had two toes amputated–

Our windfall disappeared…

If I’d not gotten greedy

Ordering lots  more stuff,

I could have waited out the thing

And still had enough!

I managed one more engine

Then had to cancel out,

No longer any money–

Our budget has run out……

When they turn off the power

And we can pay no more,

I can take my lovely N scale trains

And push them ’round the floor!

I’m going back to work today–

First paycheck in two weeks,

Until then it’s a close one

With many money leaks…

I’ll never again order

A fifty-dollar car,

I’ve got some fixer-uppers–

With them my trains can star…

I’ll use my fixer-uppers,

My trains go just as far!!!!!

–Jonathan Caswell

FOR THE CURIOUS–these cars are models of OSGOODE-BRADLEY passenger car prototypes, built in Worcester, Mass.  The N scale models are being produced by RAPIDO TRAINS, INC. (http://www,rapidotrains.com/) and apparently are still in the tooling stage.  I’d reserved mine from “N SCALE SUPPLY (http://nscalesupply.com/). The cars I originally ordered were to be decorated for the BOSTON AND MAINE RAILROAD..

FANCY FILLY FINANCING…LYRICS

FANCY FILLY FINANCING

(new lyrics to: GRANDMA’S IN THE CELLAR)

I-rish I had a shilling

For redheads unwilling

To give me even the time of day…

For many the lass

Who this poor boy will pass

Refusing to go e’en part of the way!

Chasing gold

Gets old

When the end of rainbows run away…

The finest Irish girls

Using me for finger twirls

Then finding another man with which to stay.

A guy just off the boat

Decided to devote

Energies to take away my Carol girl…

This Irish boy called George

Deepened the gorge

By taking Carol out for a whirl.

Spoke a line,

Spent his dime

To steal away my only first girlfriend…

Held back a grade he was mature

Making his girl conquest sure,

I barely saw her ’til the school year’s end!

T.-G.-I.-S.-!

T.-G.-I.-S.-! *

T-G

-I-S,

Corporate worship

We address…

As the temples

Of the Lord

Together

Faith restored.

T-G

-I-S,

You must greet

Our Special Guest…

God the Father

Comes to you

In scripture

And worship too!

T-G

-I-S,

Corporately

God’s love addressed…

Come before

God’s holy throne:

Accept His mercy

For your own!

T-G

-I-S,

Clothed with peace

And righteousness…

Gather together

As if one,

Waiting for

God’s own Son!

E..R.FANCIFUL

E.R. FANCIFUL

(Sing to: “Animal Crackers in My Soup”)

Vitals monitor Calliopes,

Winking lights on most of these…

Figures come and figures go

Avoiding trips in the hallway flow.

Mini Zamboni clean the floor,

Curtains shield every glass door…

Nurses in the center command

Video screens for the tasks at hand!

Even for patients quickly served,

Proper decorum observed,

Tests take time to conquer pain…

Otherwise treatment’s down the drain.

POOR MEMORY POOHS

POOR MEMORY POOHS

(To “The Yellow Rose of Texas”)

OH…I had a couple of poems

Abiding in my head,

But when I went to write them

My memory was dead…

I should have written down those songs

By getting out of bed,

For they are lost for all of time–

At least that’s what she said!

In this day of technology

You’d think that I would learn

You have to catch the lightning bugs

When they can be discerned…

A pen and paper or recorder

Stationed by the bed,

Could take down inspiration

Before it all has fled!
