HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?

HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?

Eggs he’ll have solid whites

With yolk runny cooked light…,

Day-by-day

The only way

To best choose what’s right!

Temptations’ frequent shower

Makes things hour-by-hour….

Minute-by-minute

Protects you in it,

Don’t have to run and cower!

One thing at a time,

In Christ find peace sublime…

His grace and truth

Supercedes youth,

Hose down after sewer time!

Faith in Christ in deed’

Makes us a different breed…

We are saved

While depraved,

But Christ will cover our need.

WORRY WORT’S WHIPPING

WORRY WORT’S WHIPPING

(Proverbs 3:9 and  16:9 )

“Lean not on your own understanding,” *

Why should this be so demanding…

For worry worts,

This Scripture contorts

Their striving for a safe landing.

To “let go and let God” seems trite,

But we struggle with all our might…

To not let go

And trust God will show

An answer in mid-flight!

Taking it day-by-day,

Featured in the twelve-step way…

Has value it in

Down to minute-by-minute,

Reassuring ourselves it’s okay.

For the Lord guides the steps and heart **

Whether we’re ready or not…

The answer that shows

Only He knows,

To trust Him is life’s greatest start.

WEDDING VOWS

WEDDING VOWS

The wedding vows we say,

Say “better or worse” that day…

If we only knew

They mean it too,

A lot of us would run away.

Not saying that we didn’t pledge,

Or have crossed fingers as alleged…

But took it like

A ride on the Pike,

A mile at a time on a ledge.

While watching the edge, not falling,

We learned to listen to calling…

By our chosen mate

And anticipate,

Surprised by reality’s mauling!

In our marriage, not two but three,

Are in it for a lifetime, you see…

Whether wiping bottoms

Or getting those “got ’ems”

We’re amazed by Divine complicity.

It continues a day-by-day walk

And we guys have to learn how to talk…

To give our wives grins

And say what’s within,

So replacements neither partner will stalk.

COMMON ROOM ENCOUNTER

COMMON ROOM ENCOUNTER

While I was sitting and writing,

A neighbor passed by inviting…

I talk for a while,

I did with a smile

‘Cause ideas were not really biting!

My neighbor saw my Bible, observing,

‘Twas a Higher Power he was serving…

In his twelve-step life

Both he and his wife

Would seek out and help without swerving.

For him, spiritual leaders,

Were all special people preferred…

To show the right way

Each day by day,

Or at least that is what he inferred.

He went his way and I went mine

Back to my Bible thought line…

I’m taking my stand

To meet life’s demand,

We’ll know at the end of time!

OUR CAT ON “A.F.V.”

(GOOGLE IMAGE)

OUR CAT ON “A.F.V.”

To watch our kitty begin to fail

Is not a laughing matter…

But seeing him trip or not land on his feet,

Brings out stifled laughter.

We feel for him as he struggles

To keep it all in check…

As our old kitty snuggles,

And hugs us around the neck.

We’ll take each day as it may come

And smile at his antics…

Not having a video camera

Is for us, mere semantics.
