GLAD I’M BROKE–SORT OF GLAD!

The days after Halloween,

Sales candy lovers’ dream…

Half-off and more

In any store,

Diabetics don’;t need these dreams!

GOOF-OFF TIME

Diabetics staying in line,

May treat themselves sometime…

What I’ve done is skip

That whole testing trip,

Concentrating on rhyme.

Writing poetry’s much more fun,

But needs concentration…

Time flies

I’m really surprised,

At clock hand orientation.

I’d better stop and check,

Or someone will be on my neck…

It’s mine to do

Responsible to,

My blood sugar regularly check.

Meds–don’t forget them–

Without them my life would be grim…

Insulin injected

I’m properly directed,

For eating my supper, then.

TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING

“TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING…”

He bought himself a large coffee

That lasted until ten o’clock…

He wanted to get another

But thought it wiser to stop.

He switched to crushed ice and water

In the same coffee jug…

A lazy rinse-out he bartered

For one less stain on the rug.

With coffee as a diuretic,

Needed fluids need replacing…

With him a diabetic

Treats he needed more spacing.

The pundits all agree

That too much of a good thing…

Dries the pockets and puts out of reach

The good life PACKED WITH ZING!

BREAK IN CHAIN

BREAK IN CHAIN*

The diabetic ran out

Of his particular kind…

Had to punt with what was available,

And that didn’t ease his mind.

Figuring out a dose

Takes guesswork for sure…

Trying to do what must suffice

To avoid a hospital tour.

A diabetic friend

He hears is cheating badly…

Another with a death wish,

Unless turned–ends sadly!

Payday is today,

The patient can get his swag…

He has his insulin

And his problems are in the bag.
