RAIN-SOAKING

RAIN-SOAKING

It rained and rained all night

I saw it in a street light…

Drops on the ground–

That pitter-patter sound

But the raincoat never fit right!

Last night took off with no jacket,

Rain on the roof made a racket….

‘Twas like the rain said

“Let’s go ahead,”

Saw my white shirt and attacked it.

The British insist an umbrella

Compliment the style of a fella…

Practicality

In Great Britain agrees

Anyone well-prepared is stellar!

Today we’re scheduled for more,

Might even get a downpour….

Properly cloaked

I won’t be soaked

But ready and dry to my core!

MONSOON MASSACHUSETTS

MONSOON MASSACHUSETTS

The radar said it was coming,

But until it came…

The downpour was barely noticed

Unless you were caught in rain.

It caught me in bright sunshine,

Those big, washing drops…

My shirt was well-spattered

During my inward walk.

Another green and yellow blotch

Threatened orange too…

We had a taste of stronger gusts

Before the “monsoon” was through!

PRELUDE TO DOWNPOUR?

PRELUDE TO DOWNPOUR?

Lightning and thunder around,

Portraying just light and sound…

So when will the rains

Pitter-pattering refrain

Come and moisten the ground?

Anticipation nears,

As animals show their fears…

Hiding under beds

Covering their heads,

Possibly shaking their ears?

To the radar most people go,

Whether it is rain or snow…

Technology

Should know, you see,

So that forecasters can crow!

AS FORECAST…

AS FORECAST…

Two guys sit at a shared open window,

Listening to the rain…

Heavy at times, then lightening up,

An off-again, on-again refrain.

A wall clock tocks off steadily

The rhythm of days…

Showers or no it’s cloudy,

As folks go their ways.

I must soon go back

And end this interlude…

Enjoying early morning

As wet weather has ensued.
