HAIKU…THE FRIDAY BEFORE JULY 4TH WEEKEND

HAIKU…THE FRIDAY BEFORE JULY 4TH WEEKEND.

Dusk on empty lot,

Darkness falls with few still here….

Not much traffic left!

Geese settle the same,

Holidays…not for their kind…

Grass doesn’t explode!

Most businesses close,

Getting supplies last minute…

Too late for charcoal?

HOLIDAY LONG WEEKEND

HOLIDAY LONG WEEKEND

(To “THE KING IS COMING”, one verse and the chorus)

The parking lot is empty,

All the offices are closed…

Many folks are heading out toward

Family on rain-slicked roads…

Houses filled with preparation

For the grandkids and sons’ wives,

Smells of baking and of cooking

We remember all our lives…..

THANKSGIVING is coming,

THANKSGIVING is coming,

Wednesday night will see a service

In the churches here around….

THANKSGIVING is coming,

THANKSGIVING is coming,

Oh, taste and find God’s firm ground!
