SAND RECOVERY

SAND RECOVERY

A common sight in the Northeast,

‘Though often it sounds like a beast…

Or buzzing of bees

Designed to ease

The comfort of some, not in the least!

Cleaning up winter sand,

With a road sweeper is so grand…

But smaller operations

Have less complications,

A blower, shovel and man!

RIDE SHARING?

RIDE SHARING?

Coming into work today,

Accosted by two young girls gay…

Asking if I carpooled

To work or to school,

I said I was out-of-the-way…!

I let myself be beguiled

So easy when the two of them smiled…

Who knows who they’ll find

If the person won’t mind,

A week or two for a trial.

UNSEALED FUTURE?

UNSEALED FUTURE

On NOVA, the fate of sea otters,

Diminished but managed by spotters…

Swimming in pollution

A nursery solution

Attempts, while the population totters.

Bringing up pups with surrogates,

Aquarium orphans participate….

In being reared,

For the wild volunteered

And released to repopulate!

The challenge is to carry on,

Protected, the otters are almost gone…

Only one of five

Released survive,

So many things can go wrong!

ONCE A LEAF

ONCE A LEAF

He saw it there on the ground,

Not moving, not making a sound…

It was rather grey,

It’s legs out-splayed

In a sad place to be taken down.

It had legs, tail and a shell,

For a dead thing it seemed preserved well…

“Did I, in parking

And disembarking

Last night, cause this poor creature ill?”

He got out of his car in grief,

Thinking himself sinner-in-chief…

Pushed it with his toe,

From this angle you know

It really was just a leaf.
