FAERIE HAIKU

FAERIE  HAIKU

Counting on fingers,

Haiku of faerie clingers…

Mysteries of rings!

Born light and breezy,

Imagined flights are easy…

Your mind’s fantasy!

Naked sprites or clothed,

Their existence we have owed…

To ancients who told!

–Jonathan Caswell

WHERE ARE ALL THE FAERIES GONE?

WHERE ARE ALL THE FAERIES GONE?

Where have all the faeries gone,

Do they have a place…

In this cruel world of woe

Will wings tickle my face?

Haven’t seen them in so long,

It is a crushing blow…

Are they there but I don’t see–

Does anybody know?

Thought I saw one yesterday,

It faded from my view…

In its place a willow tree–

There are less of them, too!

Fantasy and mythic creatures,

Will-O-Wisps and nymphs…

Steal away and in their place

Are drug dealers and pimps.

How can I get back the view

Of innocence and fantasy…

Dreamlands fade away from adults,

Sailing their restless sea!

Child’s eyes see, but I have none–

No child to rear and hold–

Only those blessed that way

Escape into childhood…retold.

For the rest of us, a moment’s flash

Reliving that former time…

Until adulthood reasserts

Maturity of a kind.

FINDING FAERIES

(Bing image: http://mirsiniscreations.blogspot/)

FINDING FAERIES

(possible tune: traditional Jewish…Where Will the Wedding–Wedding Will Be?)

Finding summer faeries..

Where are they?

Under the flowers

To help them sway!

Where are the faeries

When turned loose…

Whom do you think

Will tickle the goose?

How will the faeries

Stay alive…

In the hearts of children

They will thrive!

Where will the faeries

At end of summer go…

Replaced by faeries

That like the snow!!!!

FAERIES A-DANCING!

(Bing images)

FAERIES A-DANCING!

Faerie breezes turn round and round,

Lifting higher from the ground…

Very few see

Where they might be,

Just knowing they’re there is sound!

Watch…as branches start to move,

In gentle time to sprightly faun hooves…

Faeries and fauns

Prance across lawns,

Wearing seasonal grooves!

WATER FAERIES WINTER UNDER

WATER FAERIES WINTER UNDER

Where do water faeries go,

When weather turns cold with snow…

They find it nice

Underneath the ice,

Until springs thaw returns water flow.

I’m sure everybody has seen

Open water in winter that steams…

Water faeries will dance

In sudden romance,

While sunlight keeps the opening ice-clean.

All that one could wish,

Is to sleep with the turtles and fish…

Til the springtime warms

The heart of swarms

Of faeries and flies feverish.

CHRISTMAS FAERIES

(MSN Images)

CHRISTMAS FAERIES

Although well-intentioned,

Faeries are seldom mentioned…

In Christmas lore,

Were they, before,

Christians started intervention?

A winter solstice concluded,

Were they consulted by the Druids?

To fertilize frozen

Land and folks chosen

To produce bumper crops when denuded?

The chance to be erotic is there

Inside, away from cold air…

But most today

Will get away

With a colored drawing fair.

It must have been a fright

To lose more and more sunlight…

With excited queries

Unto the faeries,

“Would this year turn out all right?”

SNOW FAERIE

(GOOGLE)

SNOW FAERIE

 The woods are quiet,

Frost kisses the nose…

From deep within

A conviction grows,

That something or someone

Inhabits the woods…

Softly observing

But misunderstood,

The animals quietly do their own thing

We imagine the glow

Of a faerie ring.

Not surprising, we man-poets,

Form our own view…

Of how faeries look

Ethereal too,

We paint them to look

Like our favorite lass…

Like if a lover

Had a looking glass,

Or some fancy of

A gentleman’s scheme…

Imagination

That is only a dream.
